Hi SC,
DNN 6.0.0, SC 4.84.
I was wondering how to use the special instructions box in confirmation emails?
In 4.84 at the moment, when a customer places an order, the order email is sent. When they submit special instruction, an order email is sent again.
Previously (before email templates, sometime around 4.5), when a customer submitted special instructions, the second email subject was "Order confirmation with special instructions", and the special instructions token [SPECIALINSTRUCTIONS] copied out the special instructions into the email body.
Basically I'm not sure how to use the special instructions token. Is it possible to have the behaviour as above?
Thanks,
Daniel.

Hi Daniel,
Since implementing the Email Templates, when the Special Instructions token is added to the email, is not used until sending the Order email from the Manage Orders section although in my testing I noticed the data entered in the Special Instructions textbox on the Confirm Status page is not being displayed. i have sent this issue into programming and the solution will most likely be the creation of a new "Special Instructions Email Template". I will postback with an update.
Thanks,

Hi Daniel & SC support.
Using Smith Cart version 4.86 and Dnn 6.0.2
Regarding to the special instruction feature in version 4.86, I have noticed that the special instruction email is not sent after the user has filled the special instruction textbox and clicked on the 'Continue' button.
Anybody can confirm that ?

Hi Rico,
The Confirmation Emails which are sent to the User and Admin are sent prior to being directed to the Confirm Status page and being prompted to enter the Special Instructions in the text area. Once the special Instructions are filled in and the Continue button is pressed. The data entered in the Special Instructions textbox will be saved with the order and can be viewed through the Manage Order Details screen. The Special Instructions token is not used until you send the Order email from the Manage Orders section although currently we have confirmed an issue of the data entered in the Special Instructions textbox on the Confirm Status page is not being displayed in the Emails. This issue is currently being addressed by programming and the solution will most likely be the creation of a new "Special Instructions Email Template". I will postback as soon as an update is available.
Thanks,

Hi Kevin,
Just wondering - any progress on the implementation of a special instructions email template?
I have DNN 6 and SC 4.84.
Thanks,
Daniel.

Hi Daniel,
In the next release of the Cart we have resolved the issue with the Special Instructions email token being replaced when sending the Order email from the Manage Orders Details screen.
Thanks,

Thanks Kevin, looking forward to it.
Is the fix complicated? i.e. Is there any way to apply a custom fix without upgrading? I'm not overly keen on upgrading.
P.S. Can we mark this thread as Unresolved until the update/fix is done. Thanks.

Hi Daniel,
There have been many changes made between v.4.84 and v.4.99 unfortunately we cannot send you a custom fix or dll to resolve the issue so an upgrade will be necessary.
Thanks,

Hi,
This is not solved or I am doing wrong. Please help.
The Special Instructions field is still AFTER the email has been sent, right?
How can this information appears in the email?
Let me know if I am doing something wrong. If not, please solve this situation.
Thanks a lot.
