When we add variants to the cart, it apparently has no bearing on the quantity on hand shown to be available to the customer. When they select the variant on the product page you can see it refresh, and nothing changes if the quantity for that product is zero. It's as if it was available even though that variant has no stock. When you get to the cart page it shows "quantity on hand", but this is apparently for the main product itself, not of the variants in the shopping cart. It's only when you go to checkout do you find the product is not "in stock".  :(

Yes, I have inventory management enabled. DNN v6.0.1 - SmithCart v4.60

Hi Dan,

To confirm, you have setup to Variant Inventory from the dropdown on the Product Setup screen as well correct?

The Inventory Management feature has not been programmed to check the availability of the Quantity on Hand for Variants from the Product Details page, it will determine the Quantity on Hand available for Variants on the Cart page.

if you would like to request this feature to be added the Dev Roadmap please post in our Enhancment Requests forum here:http://www.smith-consulting.com/Forum...

To be provided with a quote to develop this feature, please send a message with a link to this post to sales@smith-consulting.com. We quote all features enhancements below cost since it is enhancing the module and in most cases we can start work on the new feature within a week.

Thanks,

I don't understand. Inventory management works, just not for variants??? If inventory management doesn't work for variants... then why am I entering the quantity on hand twice per variant???????

Hi Dan,

I believe you have misunderstood me. Inventory Management does indeed work for variants, however it does not check the availability of variants of the Product Details page, it will determine the Quantity on Hand available for Variants on the Cart page during checkout.

Thanks,

I am having this issue as well, doesn't it seem kind of pointless to allow a customer to add a product to their cart when it's not in stock? They are enjoying their shopping experience, thinking they can purchase something, but aren't told until they get to the checkout process? Wouldn't it make much more sense for the inventory to show sold out on the product details page?
Thanks!

Hi Guys,

If you would like to request the ability for Inventory Management to check the availability of the Quantity on Hand for Variants on the Product Details page instead of the Cart page please post in our Enhancement Requests forum here: http://www.smith-consulting.com/Forum...

If you would like to be provided with a quote from programming for this function to be developed please send an email with a link to this post to sales@smith-consulting.com. I made the false assumption when I bought this that the variants wouldn't be "broken" in this fashion. The fact that normal products alert you to being out of stock, but variants don't is downright odd as bonhamsurf pointed out.
