I am working on creating a website for a client and have a few questions regarding the shopping cart module and registration modules.

1.    What does the Pro Registration Module offer over what is already in the Cart?
2.    Can the users be assigned a sales rep by location?
       a.     Can sales reps be assigned to user roles?
3.    Is there a LTL shipping option?
4.    Oversized shipping options?
5.    When using role based discounts, can the discount be restricted to not go under the cost of the item?

We have used your shopping cart module several times in the past but not in this capacity.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,

1. The Registration Pro module is very similar the SmithCart with the exception of Registration Pro supporting the ability to offer a Trial period and also has been programmed to do a silent-post back with Auth.net to receive notification messages regarding Automated Recurring Billing (ARB) transaction status.

2. I'm not sure I follow your first question, are you asking if a Sales Rep will be automatically assigned to users depending on their location?

a) A Sales Rep is a user role called SC_SALESREP which can be added to any user. A "Sales Rep" is able to login and run the report that’s associated with their DNN login.

3. Currently an LTL Shipping option is not supported. If you would like to request tthis feature please post in our Enhancement Requests forum here: http://www.smith-consulting.com/Forums/forumid/3/scope/threads.aspx or If you would like to be provided with a quote for the function to be programmed please send an email with a link to this post to sales@smith-consulting.com. We quote all features enhancements below cost since it is enhancing the module, in most cases we can start work on the new feature within a week.

4. Not sure what you mean regarding Oversized Shipping options, could you please clarify? Are you using a specific carrier?

5. Regarding Role based discounts, if the discount equals the cost of the product the total cost of the product will be discounted. Do yo have a scenario where the discount would be greater than the cost of a product?

Thanks,

1. Thanks, that's what I was expecting.

2. Yes, that was what I was thinking, but it also is not that important.
a. Are Sales Rep reports assigned by role?
Example: Sales Rep A covers all users in roles A, B and C. Sales Rep Z covers all users in roles X, Y and Z. Will the reports they view be able to see just the users they cover?

3. Thanks, we'll keep that in mind.

4. Most shipping companies charge primarily by weight, but have charges for breaking certain dimension limits. For example, a 10 lb box to zipcode 12345 would be a certain price, but a 8' cube of a box that is 10 lbs as well would be more expensive. Does the module look at dimension other than weight for shipping?

5. This was more about the discount not going below the profit margin of a product.
Example: Product A has a list price of $20.00 and a cost of $15.00. If a role states that they get up to a %50 discount, can the price not go below the cost of $15.00? Essentially the cost would be the minimum price of the product, and the discount up to the amount the user can save.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,

2. The Sales Rep module displays the Sales Reps “Total Orders” for the current month that is associated with the user currently logged in. When viewing the Monthly Commission Report (for Sales Rep) which is accessed from the Sales Rep module, the Sales Rep is able to login and run the report that’s associated with their DNN login. The report displays order details on sales generated from the Sales Rep and their monthly commissions as well as the following fields:

  • Sales Rep Nane
  • Order Total
  • Commission Percent
  • Commission Amount
  • Total Commission amount at bottom

The commission percent is a percent of the profit based on the Wholesale price not the regular price displayed on the website and how many sales by Sales Rep on a monthly cycle which resets at the end of each month.

4. In SmithCart v.4.65 we added the dimensions feature to be used with the UPS Shipping Calculator. When product dimensions exist for a product, programmed the cart to pass the product dimensions to the UPS API when calculating shipping rates for more accurate shipping rates. I am not certain if the Cart commnicates with UPS if certain dimensions limits are exceeded, I will have to check with programming.

5. The Discount by Role will be applied to the Unit Cost of the Product entered in the Product Setup screen. Currently the Cart does not support the ability to limit the amount a product can be discounted. If you would like to request this feature please follow that same steps as item 3 above.

Thanks,
