www.conniehansen.com

I have 3 or 4 different suppliers / partners, offering different books and products.

And I want to have a shopping Module on each of their pages for easy access.

I do however also need a major shopping module combining all products available.

I tested the “sharing” function, but have no control over where to share?

QQQ Does sharing always send it to all modules installed on the site?

QQQ If I build the main with shared product, Can I then delete the once I don’t want in individual “SUB modules”?

Or is it the tedious work of manually entering without sharing?

Thanks

Olle….

You can add the BuyNow module to multiple pages in your DNN portal which allows you to create of an unlimited number of stores on your Web site to offer different product selections, presentations, payment methods, shipping rates, and tax setup, etc.

If the share checkbox is checked for a particular product the product will be displayed in all product catalogs on all pages where you have added the buynow module. If the share checkbox is not checked then products added to your first cart module will remain separate from products added to your second cart module.

The share flag does not give you the ability to choose which buynow module to display a product in. In order to implement what you are looking to do there would have to be a list box in the product setup screen where you can select from a list of buynow pages that you want the product to be displayed in. Would be a nice feature to have in the cart but its not implemented yet.
A possible solution for you is to create a master spreadsheet of your products once and then import it to each of the buynow modules that you are sharing products. Then delete the products you dont want from the individual buynow modules.

So if I add a "buy now " module to different pages, I have to add the products to each individual page? It might be easier to administrate products if there were a master products list and then on the cart allow you to select all categories or a single category/multiple categories to display on a particular page.

Not exactly, you can add the products to one buynow module and click the share flag for the product to use the product in other instances of the buynow module on other pages.

If the share checkbox is checked for a particular product the product will be displayed in all product catalogs on all pages where you have added the buynow module. If the share checkbox is not checked then products added to your first cart module will remain separate from products added to your second cart module.

But if you wanted a product on Page 1 and Page 3, another product on Page 1 and Page 2, how would you do it? I'm thinking that I want someone to search across all products, but also see the products on their particular store page.

The only way to accomplish what you are asking to enter your products individually in the buynow module you want them to show in.

Can a customer mix products from different Buy Now modules in one cart? How do you handle different shipping methods for the different products then? Does the customer have to check out from basket one and then add the product from the second buy now module and then checkout again?

Not sure how I can explain any differently then its already be explained in this thread but i will give it one more shot.

Cart Settings (gateway, tax, shipping, etc) - need to be configured for each buynow module. There is not option to share these settings

Products and Categories - Products and Categories can be configured in each buynow module individually. By default the products entered in buynow module #1 will only be visible in buynow module #1. If the share checkbox is checked for a particular product the product will be displayed in all buynow modules.

Sorry Scott, It's me that has to explain differently. I understand now that products can not be shared on selected buy now pages. You either share across Buy Now 1 2 3 4 and 5 or any single buy now page, such as number 3. What I am asking now has more to do with managing the shopping cart onthe way to the checkout. If I have a product A in Buy now page 1 that uses ground freight, and product B in Page 3 that uses UPS Air express, how is that handled at checkout? Which Buy Now page do I go to manage the customers and the orders since the Cart contained a product from Page 1 and a product from Page 3. Do I have to switch between the pages to see all the orders that I've received for the day?

All the settings you configure in the cart admin settings like payment gateway, shipping, tax, etc will apply only to the buynow module you configured the settings for. For example if you configure Buynow module #1 product A that uses ground freight, and buynow module #2 product B that uses UPS Air express then those shipping settings will only apply to the applicable products.

Manage customers and manage orders will view all the customers and orders no matter which buynow module the order was taken by. There is no tabid filter in the manage customer and manage orders.
