I have inherited a website that uses the Smith Cart.  I am knew to the module so if this question is obvious I apologize. 

The store I am working on has three custom shipping options.  Two in-store pickups and one Delivery, which calculates shipping by zip code.

The issue that we are having is that if a customer selects the Delivery shipping method and doesn't click the "Calculate Shipping" button then shipping stays at TBD and then we have to call them back and charge them for shipping.

Is there a way to automatically calculate shipping when the checkout button is clicked, without needing to click the "Calculate Shipping" button? 

We are running Smith Cart version 3.91 on DNN 5.3

Hi Stuart,

I am unable to describe the typical behavior when calculating Shipping in SmithCart v.3.91. I can however tell you that in the latest versions, clicking the Calculate Shipping button is required before proceeding to the next step of checkout. I would strongly recommend upgrading your store as we release new versions of the cart frequently with bug fixes, security patches and new features which provides a level of protection for your ecommerce site. All changes and enhancements are located in the Change Log to the left of this post if you would like to review the list for any other features you may want to utilize.

I have upgraded to the lastest version of the module.  It isn't requiring "Calculate Shipping" to pressed before going to the next step in the checkout process.  Is there a setting some place that I need to tick to turn it on?

Hi Stuart,

Which version of the Cart did you upgrade to?

Did you install the upgrade over your previous v.3.91?

Did you re-save your Settings? When upgrading, It is always a good idea to re-save your settings to initialize any new settings that may have been added to the module.

Thanks for the response I appreciate it.

I installed 4.67 over the top of the 3.91 version.  I did lots of saving of the store settings, the cart settings, etc.  I do have multiple ship types setup could that be an issue?

Hi Stuart,

This could be related to the gap between version although I'm not exactly sure what could be causing this behavior. Please post a screenshot of your Cart Settings and I will try to replicate this issue on our test portal.

I wasn't really sure what part of the cart settings you wanted so I made a video of the settings I thought seemed important and have attached it.

From a technical stand point how is the clicking of the calculate shipping button required? Is it automatic, some sort of setting?  How is it achieved?

I think I have figured it out.  I have three shipping methods.  Two are free in store pickups at different locations.  The third is delivery.  I set the cart to calculate shipping by zip code.  I only had entries in shipping table for zip code for the delivery shipping method.  Once I added entries in the zip code table for the other two methods then the click the calculate button started being required.
