Hi,

I purchased the order exporter a while back but never got round to using it until now. I have moved my site onto a hosted site rather than running it on my own servers but I cannot see a way with the order exporter program how you can specify the SQL server, database, user, password to connect to as I want to be able to run the software as a scheduled task on a server I have full control of but accessing the DNN shop on my hosted server. Please can you tell me where/how I specify these settings in the config file or whereelse I need to do it.

Thanks.

Nathan

Hi Nathan,

Which version of the Cart and DNN are you currently running?

The following Smith Cart Automated Order Exporter program have been written to enable you to automate operational processes using the built-in DNN Scheduler.

To enable the automated Smith Cart Automated Order Exporter program, do the following:

1. Go into the DNN Host menu > Schedule page and click on the Add Item to Schedule link.

2. In the “Full Class Name and Assembly” field enter the following:
Smith.DNN.Modules.BuyNow.ExportOrdersFlatScheduler

3. Check “Schedule Enabled” and enter the frequency in the “Time Lapse” field which you would like to schedule the export program to be executed. Click Update, and you should be good to go.

Thanks,

Kevin, thanks for the reply. On the site I was referring to I have decided to leave it where it is so dont need to do anything to it but I am testing the latest version of SC for a client product where I will need to be able to export orders/change status once exported on a scheduled basis.

Will I need to purchase the export utility or is this now part of the main cart as you talk about it being a DNN scheduled task?

How do I configure where the order file gets sent to, format (CSV or XML) etc.

Can I specify a time to run it as I need to export orders at 5am and 2pm on Monday to Friday but ideally not at weekends?

Thanks.

Hi Nathan,

We have 2 Order Export programs available.

The first is a Windows exe program that is integrated with the Smith Cart database to automate, export and send new store orders to a partner (i.e. fulfillment house) or any third party you want to send orders to on a nightly basis. Just add this program to the windows scheduler and schedule the program to run on a fixed interval. Typically, orders are sent to the fulfillment house once a day at midnight. More info available at the following link: https://www.smith-consulting.com/pd/P...

The 2nd Automated Order Exporter program has been built into SmithCart to enable you to automate operational processes using the built-in DNN Scheduler. This can be configured using the instructions in the above post.

The folder path used is portals/PortalID/SmithCart/OrderExport/. Both programs require CSV files to be utilized.

Hope this helps!

Kevin,

I cannot find any details of how to use/setup/configure the inbuilt order exporter you say is available using the DNN scheduler. Also is it possible using the external program to specify a SQL server, username and password so that it can be run remotely? Also is it possible to configure the layout of the CSV file to fit the fulfilment houses requirements?

Thanks, Nathan.

Hi Nathan,

Info on the configuration of the external Order Exporter program can be found in the User's Guide here: https://www.smith-consulting.com/Portals/0/docs/smithcart-exportorders-exe.pdf

The Automated Order Exporter uses the Order Export specifications for the "Flat Order" format found on pg. 223 of the SmithCart Manual here: http://www.smith-consulting.com/Portals/0/docs/smithshoppingcartmanual.pdf

The Automated Exporter Program simply allows you to automate this feature and schedule when it runs.

To enable the automated Smith Cart Automated Order Exporter program, do the following:

1. Go into the DNN Host menu > Schedule page > Click on the Add Item to Schedule link.

2. In the “Full Class Name and Assembly” field enter the following: Smith.DNN.Modules.BuyNow.ExportOrdersFlatScheduler

3. Check “Schedule Enabled” and enter the frequency in the “Time Lapse” field which you would like to schedule the export program to be executed. Click Update, and you should be good to go.

Thanks,
