Kevin - Hi, I have gone in and changed the shipping selection to "Shipping by Order Amount" - when doing this no tax is calculated until the end of the order process as expected. But a couple of things seem to be occuring:
1. Tax is not being calculated by county (step 1 dropdown value) tax rate.
2. If a county is not selected manually there is no requirement placed on it by the software. This is opposit what Scott Kelly explains in "How to calculate tax using the tax tables"
Use Step1 Dropdown List in Tax Lookup (optional) – When “Use Step1 Dropdown List in Tax Lookup” is checked the cart will look up the tax rate in the tax table by tax district (county) and state. The value selected in step 1 dropdown is used to filter the county field in Smith_Tax table. This option requires that you configure either tax districts or counties in the Step 1 dropdown list described below.
If you have configured taxable states in the taxable states list then the Step 1 Tax District dropdown will become a required selection only if the users state matches one of the states in the taxable state list.
3. If I choose the Shipping Calculator option under Shipping and Handline Setup in the Manage Cart Settings and I list Ohio as my state the tax rate of 7% is automatically pulled into the sales tax amount. I am not understanding where the software is pulling this 7% from. I have no flat tax amounts set in the settings and I have changed the tax rate on the first county in the tax table to see if that was the linked value - not the case.
Why would the sales tax pull a percentage into the tax rate after you calculate shipping if no tax rate is established for the state and where is it pulling it from?
The caculate tax using tax tables seems to have some bugs in it that almost make the entire shopping cart unusable for local business purposes.
Please get back to me on this. My go live for this customer was last month. Thanks.
