Hi SmithCart team,

I have 2 client sites using SmithCart versions 2.99 and 3.88 both running on DNN version 5.6.7

We still use the SmithCart version added to the site because owners administering their carts are terrified of upgrades and losing store data, having put so much time into many hundreds of products, categories and options and descriptions since our initial upload from an excel spreadsheet.

I have been able to upgrade DNN through the 5.x.x to 5.6.7 but now my host PowerDNN is pressing me to take these 2 sites to 6.1.3 for security reasons.

Are there any reasons (data loss or other) that I should NOT upgrade to DNN 6.1.3 with these current versions of SmithCart running as they are?

Hi Rod,

SmithCart versions 2.99 or 3.88 are not supported on DNN 6. If you refer to the Change Log to the left of this post, the first version of the Cart with DNN 6 support was v.4.46 so I would recommend an upgrade before upgrading to DNN 6. Due to the gap between versions, you may run into data conflicts as new fields are added in almost each release which are initialized properly when populated thru the sc ui.

I would recommend either creating a new DNN sandbox and installing the Cart fresh and import your data or a clean install of the Cart with data backup.
