Scott,

I am currently running SmithCart version 4.86 on DotNetNuke Community Edition 06.00.02,  The client is requiring us to calculate tax for thepurchase based upon the county where the item is to be shipped to in the state of Ohio. Despite using your instructions the tax is constant at 7% no matter what county I select in the checkout process.

Under Tax Setup in the General Store Setup I have selected the radio button to Use Tax Tables.  In the state listing I have selected Ohio and ticked the Use Step One Drop Down List in Tax Menu.

Moving down to Checkout Step One Settings:  I ticked the Show Drop Down and In the Label Box put in "Ohio Counties" and then filled the drop down list values with the county names that matched the tax table information I uploaded in the population of the tax table from the cart tool box menu.

In addtion when runnung through the check out process the county selection is not required as is what is outline in your post.  Please advise as this is a real show stopper for the client not to mention this seems to be an out of the box feature that should just work.

Thank you,

Michael Mock

Hi Michael,

We have been able to replicate the issue of when using the Shipping by Order Amount method and having the Tax Setup configured with Use Tax Tables the Use Step 1 Dropdown List in Tax Lookup feature, the Tax Rate which is calculated on the Confirmation page does not apply the Tax rate according to the County which is selected on Step 1. I have fowarded this issue into our programming dept. and I will postback as soon as an update is available.

Thanks,

Kevin,

Just following up on your post. Appreciate the reply and was looking to see if resolution is available for this issue? My client is awaiting launch and is somewhat "stuck" for sales transactions in Ohio (his main source of online sales) without the update.

Thanks,

Hi,
I also have a problem with tax calculation. I use the GST/PST for Canada. The value of GST is entered in the text box under the tax setup. For the PST, I entered a value for my province in the tax table. The cart will calculate the PST but the GST is not calculated.

I'm using SmithCart 4.87 and DNN 6.01.02

Thanks

Hello,

I just tried to re-produce this issue on my test portal and was unable to recreate the same behavior you reported but I may not have the exact same configuration as you. Can you login to our test site http://www21.smith-consulting.com/ and try to replicate the issue. This will determine if the issue is with the latest version of the Cart or an issue with your specific dnn portal/cart install.

If you need login credentials, please send an email with a link to this post to kevin@smith-consulting.com.

Thanks,

Kevin,

I was excited to see the update yesterday, but am sad to report that this did not correct the tax issue. I applied the update this morning and ran through the testing. Tax still calculates at the rate of 7%. Additionally, if I select an Ohio county it doesn't calculate against that rate and despite having Ohio set as the state and having a county tax table in place a selection of a county is not being required if I select Ohio as the sate for billing.

Thanks,

Hi Michael,

This issue has been addressed and the solution is in SmithCart v.4.92 now available from the Downloads page.

Thank you for your feedback!

Hi Michael,

I'm just back to this thread to confirm this issue is resolved. I just tested this using v5.52 and the Tax Rate is adjusted accordingly to the County selected.
