I am trying to set a pricing plan based on order amount.  We ship domestically and Internationally.  We wanted to set shipping prices by amoun such as:

$0-$50 - Ground - $5.00
$0-$50 - 2-3 Day - $12.00
$0-$50 - Next Day - $20.00
$50.01 - $99.99 - Ground - $8.00
$50.01 - $99.99 - 2-3 Day - $15.00
$50.01 - $99.99 - Next Day - $25.00
$100.00 - ... - Ground - $0.00
$100.00 - ... - 2-3 Day - $10.00
$100.00 - ... - Next Day - $20.00

That works fine for most of the USA, but it will not work for a few states.  Nor will it work for International.

There doesn't seem to be a way to create rates by zone as there is in By Weight and By Quantity.  Is there any reason why that's the case?  It doesn't seem like the By Order Amount option was designed to ship everywhere.  Am I correct?

Thanks,

Christian

Hi Christian,

I'm not quite following what you are trying to achieve or the issue you are reporting.

Which Shipping method do you have selected in your Cart Settings?

Could you provide more detail about what you mean by "it will not work for a few states"?

In both the "Manage Shipping By Weight" and "Manage Shipping By Order Quantity" screens you can select Shipping Zones for each Shipping Cost entered.

Thanks,

I am trying to simplify the cost of shipping to my customers.  Since I can't use Shipwire, we have decided to take the path of many of our competitors.

Single rate shipping based on the price of the order.  Since we also want to offer expedited shipping for thsoe that want it, the customer will have three options.  GROUND, 2-3 DAY, NEXT DAY.  We will offer a price based on the price of the order ($0 to $50, $50.01 to $99.99, $100 on up).  No problem, your By Order Amount solves this.  Kind of.

Unfortunately though, as you have the option to select the Zone in By Weight and By Quantity, you do NOT have the option to select a Zone for the mentioned exceptions in By Order Amount.  I am unable to apply a Zone to the rate tables in By Order Amount.

We cannot offer the exact same rate table to everyone, we would go broke.  Alaska, Hawaii, Canada and all other International orders need to be treated differently.  In fact, we would like to be able to simply create rate tables for Alaska, Hawaii, and Canada then use the USPS shipping calculator that you have as an option for all other International orders.  But it doesn't appear that we have the ability to do that either - I don't seem to be able to offer the shipping calculator in a Zone either.

So, we seem to be stuck only with By Weight (too confusing for customers to have to base their decisions on weight) or By Quantity (we have more than one product that we offer, this one makes zero sense).

If you have a solution that I have not configured properly, please let me know.  I am all ears.

Thanks very much.

Christian

Hi Christian,

Smith Cart allows you to add the BuyNow module to multiple pages in your DNN portal. The allows you to create of an unlimited number of stores on your Web site to offer different product selections, presentations, payment methods, shipping rates, and tax setups.

In order to help troubleshoot this issue please provide the following:

  1. Which version of the Cart and DNN you are currently running
  2. A screen shot of your BuyNow settings; General, Shipping and Tax sections
  3. Screenshots of Shipping Management screens: Custom Shipping Methods, Shipping Zone Regions, and Shipping By Weight screens
  4. The weights of the Products in question you are calculating shipping on
  5. The "From" and "To" shipping addresses of the order
  6. A screen shot of the Cart page after you have calculated shipping showing the shipping costs returned

Thanks
