DNN 6.2.4 SC 5.2.0

I had my Cart working after much troubleshooting through you recent cart upgrades. Now out of the blue customers (and myself) are getting this error on the confirmation page.

Error processing payment. Please try again. Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

I did three tests changing settings - like turning off single page checkout for example. Same error. I have been able to work around other issues, but I can not work around this. Customers are ordering twice because of this error. It successfully goes through my merchant account and I get the order and the money through them, but there is no record in manage orders.

I hope you are able to fix this issue as soon as possible.

Thank you,
Eric

PayPal Website Payments Pro. I had to do this upgrade from PayPal Website Payments Standard, because after my Cart upgrade it no longer worked and I had to get my cart back up quickly because I get many orders and it's an important part of my income.

Like I said, it was working for a few days. I tested it 3 times and have had orders through it. Now as of today I get this error.

Hello,

Has anything changed on your site around the time the transactions stopped working such as a windows security update or system update?

Check the following event viewers on your server for errors and post back if you see any errors around the same time the conditional Variants started behaving incorrectly:

- DNN Event Viewer
- Windows Event Viewer
- SQL Server Event Viewer

Thanks,

The event viewer was the first thing I looked at and there was no error. I don't have the other 2 viewers that I can see. This transaction had no conditional variants. It was a shot glass with no variants.

I don't know if my host ran a Windows security update or a system update. I upgrade to DNN 6.2.4 from 6.2.2 almost the same time as SC 5.2.0, but I did all my testing right after and all transactions went through fine. The only thing I really changed in the store is renaming my URL keywords through URL Master, but I changed it back after this error and it didn't resolve the issue.

I can't use MiniCart, I can't use Sale pricing and the description boxes along with the description text run off the right side.

This is not why i switched form osCommerce to DNN.

Hi Eric,

Please check with your host to see if a Windows security update or a system update has been run as it is not normal for a site to stop working without any changes made in the environment.

Also, I would like to have you login to one of our public test portals and configure the cart the way you have your's configured and try to replicate the issue. This will determine if the issue you are reporting is with the latest version of the Cart or an issue with your specific DNN portal/cart install.

Please send an email with a link to this post to kevin@smith-consulting.com and I will provide you with credentials to login.

Thanks,

Kevin, Eric,

We are using the same version of DotNetNuke (6.2.4) and SmithCart (5.2) and are getting the same error message when submitting orders. Though our problem may not be the same, we are wondering if Eric's problem has been resolved yet?

In case it helps, we have our module requiring the user to be logged in and the gateway is set to "Manual" with Test Mode enabled.

We noticed that when logged in with a Host account everything works fine but when using an Admin or regular user account that the error occurs.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ben

Ben,

Unfortunately neither Smith, my Host or myself was able to correct the very long list of Smith Cart issues. Two days ago I instructed my Host to restore my site from my backup from 6/18/12. I've spent the last two days rebuilding all the content of the site, thanks to dozens of screen shots and copy/pasted content to a reference document. I'm currently back on DNN 6.2.2 and SC 5.0 and everything is working great!

Sorry to hear you're having similar problems,
Eric

This issue has been fixed and we have added a hotfix to the 5.20 build. You can download cart 5.20 with the paypal hotfix either from the cart downloads page or the trial downloads page.

Thanks for reporting the issue!
