I'm having an issue with SmithCart not calculating sales tax on some of my orders. If it's a new customer and they enter their shipping information and then click calculate shipping, it ads the tax just fine. However, if it's a returning customer and their information is already pre-populated, or loaded from their profile (registered customers), it doesn't add the sales tax (unless they act like they are going to change their address and re-calculate shipping costs). I need to get this fixed because I'm having to pay their sales tax out of my profits on these sales.

Can you post a screen shot of your BuyNow module settings so I can see how you have your shipping configured?

Thanks,

Hi Randy,

Which version o the Cart and DNN are you currently running? Also, which Tax method do you have selected in your Cart Settings?

Thanks

Hi Randy,

I have tried to replicate this issue on my test portal but I was unable recreate the same behavior but I may not have the exact same configuration as you. I would like to have you login to one of our public test portals and configure the cart the way you have your's configured and try to replicate the issue. This will determine if the issue you are reporting is with the latest version of the cart or an issue with your specific DNN portal/cart install.

Please submit a Help Desk ticket with a link to this post at the following link and I will provide you with credentials to login: http://www.smith-consulting.com/Suppo...

I've logged into your test portal and had the same problem. I just responded with an email and attached a screenshot.

I'm still having the issue, all of my sales are not calculating tax and I'm having to pay it out of my company's profit.

Hi Randy,

Thanks for using our test portal. According to the Ticket you submitted, this issue is replicated if the user calculates shipping then closes the window, logs back in and views the Cart. I was able to replicate the issue of closing the window then navigating back to the Cart and having the tax show 0% and have logged this issue to our Bug Tracker. I will postback as soon as an update is available.

For anyone else following this post, the steps to reproduce per your Ticket are the following: Here's what I did:

I added an item to the cart and proceeded with the checkout process. I calculated shipping, entered my information etc. Now, close the window out, log back in and view your cart again. It has your shipping address filled in, ship method selected, and it displays Tax as being 0%.

Thanks

It not only happens when closing the window and logging back in, but I'm finding that it seems like it's happening for all of my registered user's. When they go to checkout and their shipping information is pre-populated, it happens. The only way for the tax to be calculated is if: (A) They manually enter shipping information. (B) They clear out the pre-populated shipping information, re-enter it, and then click Calculate Shipping.

Getting a customer to do that is near impossible. None of them are going to take the time, nor do they care, to do all that so I can collect tax from them. Hope this issue is resolved soon, it's costing me a lot of money.

Hi Randy,

I have found that the issue isn't caused by Ship To info being pre-populated, it is when the user has calculated shipping then navigates away from the Cart page. Programming has resolved this issue and the solution will be included in the next release of the Cart.

Thanks for reporting the issue!

Has a release been sent out that's supposed to resolve this bug? I'm having the same issue

I cleared my cache and default sales tax was set to 5% (should be TBD, as we are using tax tables). Then when I change shipping address to address that should make it 15% tax, it goes down to 0%. DNN 6.2, SmithCart 5.34

We just updated the cart very recently, we're at version 5.34, was it resolved before that or after?

Hi Monique,

I'm not sure of the exact version this was resolved as I don't see it specifically listed in the SmithCart Change Log. I recommend testing on our test portal to see if the issue is present in the latest release. Please submit a Help Desk ticket with a link to this post at the following link and I will provide you with credentials to login: http://www.smith-consulting.com/Suppo...

Thanks!
