Hi, we're in the process of converting our store to the SmithCart and we ran into a strange problem.

1. Navigate to the store (it's in dev): http://deviqmh.no-ip.org/Shop/Shoppin...
2. Select a category
3. Navigate away to the Home (or some other page)
4. Return to store: http://deviqmh.no-ip.org/Shop/ShoppingCart/tabid/341/Default.aspx
5. Notice that the category you selected is not selected and, instead, the last root category (in this case Education) is selected.

Any ideas?
I tried changing skin back to DK and still the same problem.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Hi Ark,

Which version of the Cart and DNN are you currently running?

Do you have the Education category set as the Default Category in your Cart Settings?

Thanks Kevin,
The default category is set to "Overview" the one at the top (Education is the first level -bottom)
We have a subscription with you so the code should be latest.

I'm trying to recreate what you guys have done here: http://www12.smith-consulting.com/
1. Navigate to http://www12.smith-consulting.com/
2. Click "Hypercom"
3. NAvigate to "Contactg Us" or somewhere away
4. Return to "Home" and the "Hypercom" and its productgs are still selected.

Thanks for your help,
Ark

Hi Ark,

Please confirm which version of the Cart and DNN you are running so that I can test this in the same environment. I have tested this issue on our test portal running DNN 6.2.5 and Cart v5.37 and I have not been able to replicate this issue as when a Category is selected then you navigate away from the page, then back, the category is still selected.

Please also provide a screenshot of your Cart Settings and your Category module settings.

Thanks

Hi Ark,

I haven't been able to replicate this issue on my test portal. I would like to have you login to one of our public test portals and configure the cart the way you have your's configured and try to replicate the issue. This will determine if the issue you are reporting is with the latest version of the cart or an issue with your specific DNN portal/cart install.

Please submit a Help Desk ticket with a link to this post at the following link and I will provide you with credentials to login: http://www.smith-consulting.com/Suppo...

Thanks

Thanks Kevin,

We have tracked down the problem to Manage Categories > Edit Category > URL Keywords
As soon as we set any one of these the selectors stop working correctly and they resume working fine when we clear these.
Could you please confirm it works for you when you set these?

Thanks,
Ark

Just wanted to add that we tried it with a fresh install of DNN 6.2 and Cart 5.25 and it still seems to behave that way.

Hi Ark,

It seems that this issue is caused by the Category URL Keywords field not being programmed to be used when persisting the previous Category selection. When a URL Keyword is entered, the Cart is expecting the keyword to be included in the URL to select the correct Category so when you navigate away from the page, then click on a menu link, the keyword doesn't get passed in the URL so the Category isn't selected.

If you would like to be provided with a quote to add the ability to persist the selected Category including the URL Keywords, please submit a Quote Request at the following link - Request A Quote

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Kevin,
We're just trying to implement the URL Keywords as described on page 106 of your manual, quote:

"URL Keywords – The keywords entered in this field will bedynamically added in the URL of the product listing page when a user clicks on a category from the categories module. Enter keywords that are relevant and targeted towards your category. Targeted keywords in the URL help your SEO rankings. If you enter several keywords use hyphens as dividers and not underscores as hyphens have proven better for SEO."

The categories persist correctly without the URL Keywords and break as soon as we intrdoduce them.
Using a documented feature that breaks the system constitutes a bug rather than a feature request.

Please let me know when a patch may be expected.

Thanks,

When you are using category url keywords for your categories the keywords must always exist in the url when you navigate to the page with the categories module on it.  When you click a link in your menu that navigates to the page without the keywords in the url then the category wont be highlighted.  To fix the issue change the link in your menu to add the category keywords so the url matches the url when you click on a category in the categories module.
