Hi! We purchased the Smith Shopping Cart Module a few months back and I was wondering if there is an option for pickup for shipping? I still want to be able to ship it to far away clients, but the close clients would like the option to pick up their material. Thank you!

Smith Cart provides a number of different ways to configure shipping in your store:

  • Custom defined shipping methods (e.g. Ground, Next Day, 2nd Day, Priority, Pick Up, etc)
  • Shipping By Order Total
  • Shipping By Order Weight
  • Shipping By Zip code
  • Shipping By Fixed Item Shipping Costs (e.g. Shipping Cost By Product)
  • Free Shipping and "Free shipping over a certain order amount
  • Shipping at the order level or product level

To setup custom ship methods go to the store admin menu and click the shipping button and the custom shipping method screen will be displayed that allows you to configure custom ship methods like "Pick Up" or "Will Call" and associated ship costs. Ok, I've done that, but now I can't get that shipping option to show up. I read the manual and it says to click on Custom Ship Methods By Zipcode in Settings to get it to work, but I don't have that option. I only have

Use Cart Shipping Calculator

Free Shipping

Use Custom Ship Methods ONLY

Use Product Level Shipping Costs

Am I in the wrong place or is there something wrong with my cart?

If you only have those shipping options you must be on an earlier version of the cart but you still should be able to get it to work using the "Use Custom Ship Methods" option. After you have your custom ship methods and amounts setup select the "Use Custom Ship Methods" option in the cart admin settings and the cart will display the custom ship methods and amounts you defined.

Thanks again for your response. When I click on "Custom Shipping Options Only" however, it only allows for pickup. I would still like to use the USPS weight option. Any ideas?

In the cart settings do you have the checkbox for “Combine Shipping Methods” ?

I do, but when I click it and press update, I go back and it's unchecked

I think it's version 2.72.0

I can upgrade if need be, I just don't want to redo my whole shopping cart

You will need to upgrade to the latest version of the cart in order to receive support for these types of issues. We release new versions to rectify any bugs so it is important to ensure you are running the latest software. The current version of the cart is 2.98 please email support@smithcart.com with your purchase receipt to inquire about upgrading.
