In new releases of the cart sometimes new cart settings are added, for example, we recently added show/hide search and sort bar to control the display of the search and sort bars on the product listing page. If you receive an error after upgrading one easy thing to try is to go into the cart settings and click "update" at the bottom of the settings screen to save the default values for any new settings that may have been added in the upgrade.
