Using Paypal Web Standard...

Smith consulting says to set Auto return to the website domain URL ...is that suppose to return the customer to the home page then or the StoreFront tab (which is not the home page).

Right now its taking customers to the Storefront page (but it doesn't show the module content for some reason.

It should return to the store and display an approve or decline message. Do you have an error in your dnn event viewer?

It returns to the site but does not show a message - just an empty container.

Event Log doesn't seem to show much.

I just added the dll hot fix posted in downloads - that didn't make a difference - still no messaging and no email from the cart.

Same Log Messaging.

That hotfix was for v3.08 only were you running cart v3.08 before you applied the hotfix?

Using 3.8.0 - the latest version.

OK - I tested thing on the test server and it worked correctly (after the hot fix was added) - displaying the message and marking the paypal purchase as "true" So that's good news that it doesn't appear to be a bug :)

On the actual site - the message doesn't show (or any of the storefront module) - the paypal purchase shows as "false"

I'm using the latest Smith version with the hot fix dll loaded. I have the Paypal auto return set to: http://kleinsclasses.com/buynow.aspx (but I tried http://kleinsclasses.com and that didn't make any difference.

The other thing that I can't test on the test server: I have the customer register before add to cart. On the test server, it appears that emailing alerts are disabled (I got an error when changed a User Role). But on the actual server, no DNN email goes out when completing the registration page that the Smith app serves up. If I use the regular DNN register link, the email alert goes out fine. I'm using the authenticated eamil setup Smit recommended in DNN. Should the email alert be going out when the form is completed or again is it impacted by the payment not be acknowledge?

So what do I do to get this fixed?

OK - I fixed this one myself!

User Friendly URLS was turned off. I turned it back on and now the messaging works and appropriately updates the record as paid and send out the confirmation email to the customer.

The only thing that is still not working is the DNN email with the ID and pw that should be going out after the registration is finished before the Add to Cart process.

Great news! glad to hear you got the paypal returns working.

Regarding the DNN email with the ID and pw that you mentioned is not working the cart was not programmed to send out a copy of dnn email that is sent out after new registrations. I think a good solution would be to just add a [password] token that you can insert to cart email order confirmations then the user would have their dnn username/password sent to them after the order. Also the user can always just click the dnn password reminder if they forgot their password.

oow... I like that idea about adding the User Account and pw tokens to the Email template! That's perfect if it works. I'll let you know.

Thanks!
