We need to take a closer look at the checkout validation routine. I had 4 orders get through this weekend with no carrier/ship method selected, and no value for the shipping amount. I am using shipping by quantity ordered.

Since we're doing a pre-authorization on the sale, I can't add the shipping amount (and I have had customers say that they selected "UPS 2nd day" and it came over as blank). Anyway, I can't add the shipping amount, because I can't settle for more than I authorized. So, this will be four more orders that I have to eat the shipping on.

Now, I can't regularly get it to replicate this problem, but it obviously keeps happening.

Are your totals correct? I have seen it where if you enter shipping, then go back and say you want to change your shipping address for the UPS shipping calculator, but do not complete the process, that the shipping will then be hidden from the checkout process, but the total will include the amount of the cart plus shipping. So there is a problem with shipping getting hidden I have found, but in my test cases, at least the total was correct.

I am curious if what you are seeing is the same or different from what I am seeing.

I'm not using the shipping calculator. I'm using Ship by Quantity Ordered.

I don't know how they keep getting through.... but it's becoming a problem. The warehouse manager is yelling at me now.

I am not able to replicate this in my test environment please provide the steps to replicate so I can verify and send into programming to fix.

I am not wanting to hijack this thread... but just to clarify my reply above. What I meant was that in a mixed cart scenario, when you have shipping enabled on a boxed product, but have download products in the cart also that you want to hide shipping on, the only option that I could find is to Hide Shipping in the overall cart settings, so download customers do not see TBD or a $0.00 shipping field during checkout. Boxed products will still show shipping options, but in the above scenario where Hide Shipping is used, you will not see the shipping list item during the checkout process on a boxed process after you calculate shipping. The best option would be to have Hide Shipping per product, so that if it is a download product, you do not see any shipping fields. But, if a boxed product is included, then shipping appears.

G...

Do you have a dev/test server to work through some scenarios? One option might be to take the source code, install on a dev/test server with some debugging steps logging the code flow, adding example items from your inventory and testing against a "developer test" account from Authorize.Net. This way you have full back and forth transactions - but in a controlled environment.

Maybe we can shake out the steps to replicate this, and corral this "bug".

I'm willing to hack and whack on the source. If you don't have a publicly available dev/test server, I probably can set something up.

Let me know.

I do have a sandbox to play in. I wouldn't need to go through Authrorize.net or such with the Purchase Order option.

I believe that the bug has to do with a user not being logged on, or having to create an account as part of the checkout process. It seems things get confused in that scenario. I've been able to get it to do it once, but not regularly; it probably has to do with a session variable or some such thing.

I could also let you log into my sandbox if you'd like to look at things. You can give me a call if you wish at 800-626-4948 ext. 310.

Thanks!
