I want to configure my shipping by weight but I also want to be able to offer free shipping as a promotion. Is there a way to set it up the cart so that I can offer a free shipping coupon?
In the manage coupon screen there is field called "Coupon Shipping Amount" that lets you enter a dollar amount to charge for shipping in the cart.

If I set the cart to charge shipping by weight won't the cost of shipping vary depending on the total weight of the cart? What I am looking for is a way to skip the shipping calculation completely on certain orders.
The method I described will override the normal shipping charges when the user enters a valid coupon.
