I appear to have everything setup correctly according to the user manual, but the shopping cart is not adding any shipping costs to the cart at any time. I have setup Product-based shipping and every product has a shipping cost, but so far no luck... Please help! I tried to get this to work on your test site (added shipping cost to 2 products, selected Product based shipping from the Settings page, tried to buy those two products => no shipping costs on the Confirmation page) and successfully reproduced the problem, or at least my misconfiguration...

Thanks,

Shaune

Which site were you able to reproduce this error on? www7.smith-consulting.com is version 4.02.

Also, I would recommend upgrading to the latest version of SmithCart.

Thanks,

Christian

Christian, the product-based shipping did not work on the test site with the new version or on my production site with the 3.0 version, so I'm not sure how important the version is, but I would be happy to upgrade if that is what is needed. However, since the test site did not appear to calculate the shipping either, it would be nice to see if we can get the 3.0 version to work properly so that I can upgrade when convenient to do so. Can you provide any guidance on what might be wrong, or why the test site did not seem to work correctly either?

Thanks,

Shaune

Hey Shaune,

Can you please provide more information on how I can reproduce the error on the www7 test site?

Thanks,

Christian

Christian,

1) Go to the settings page for the shopping cart and select Product-based shipping.

2) Modify a couple of the products by adding a shipping price to the product using the Shipping menu when editing the product.

3) Put one or more of the modified products in your cart.

4) Checkout and observe that there are no shipping costs added to the cost of the cart.

I just tested this again on the www7 test site, with the product Cone Compensator and it works fine. I set up a product shipping cost of $10.00 and added it to the cart and it shows up fine. Can you take a look at this product and let me know if you have yours configured differently?

Thanks,

Christian

Well, I'm glad to see that it is working on the product that is now in the test store, but it is not working on my 3.0 cart... I have Product Level Shipping selected as shown in the screen capture ShippingSetting.PNG, and I have a Product Shipping Cost specified on every product, an example is shown in the screen capture ProductShippingCostSetting.PNG. But when one places that product in the cart, the 3.0 cart places a "TBD" in for the Shipping fee, as shown in CartWithTBDShipping.PNG. The shipping cost is never calculated anywhere in the checkout process, and the customer is charged $0.00 for shipping...

Please help!

Since everything is working as designed on the www7 test portal upgrading the latest version of the cart should fix it on your site.

I'm sorry, but telling me to spend more money on a new version in order to get what I'm already supposed to have is NOT exactly what I would call "support"... I am exceedingly disappointed in this result!

I can understand your point but there have been over 50 releases since cart v3 was released and it would be virtually impossible for us to maintain that many different source code versions and release bug fixes today for all the old versions of the cart out in circulation. We ask that customers maintain an active cart maintenance plan so you will have access to cart downloads area throughout the year as needed. We release new versions of the cart frequently with bug fixes, security patches and new features which provides a level of protection for your ecommerce site.
