Hi,

Only about 20% of PayPal users are waiting for the site to return them back to our site to log the order in the system. I just found a bunch of orders not shipped.

This is not so much a Smith Cart problem, but does anyone know a way to minimize this from happening? They get the complete message from PayPal, but then they close their browser without waiting for the redirect.

What would be good is a way to use their more advanced API calls to validate any previous order. I know PayPal has this functionality. You can query their server, and get the payment status. With a button to check all paypal orders within XX days, then this would eliminate missed orders.

Now, we will have to cross every paypal confirmation mail sent by PayPal to the cart orders to see if anyone closed the browser too soon.

I am just thinking there must be a better way to do this... Has anyone else noticed a low ReturnURL rate after a successful order on PayPal?

Thanks,

Steve

Yes I have noticed the same problem. I haven't got a solution yet unfortunately.

There is another PayPal issue that Smith-Cart hopefully has on their agenda because I can't sponsor it, but it belongs in a different thread:

It looks like this may be part of the solution https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr...

What changes are required in SmithCart (if any) has to be determined.

Yes, but the problem is that paypal puts in a 10 second delay that customers are not waiting on.

One method would be for there to be a POP scheduler that checks for any POP mails from PayPal, and then modifys the database. But this could be open to abuse.

PayPal sure auto return immediately to avoid this.
