We contunue to have issues where following registration, users cannot access areas of our site accessable to their user role. The role is set properly and an "expiry date" is shown, but no "effective date". When we manually set the effective date, all is well.

Why is the effective date not being set during the SmithCart registration process? Thanks

The effective date is the date that you want the role assignment to begin. Since the cart only has a setting for role expiration and not effective date the assumption is that the user is added to the role after successful purchase so the cart doesn't send the effective date. The cart uses the dnn function "AddUserRole" which has several overloads and EffectiveDate is not a required parameter. The most common role assignments do not pass an EffectiveDate or an ExpiryDate.

Thanks Dave ... makes sense, except we're running into issues where the user role doesn't seem to work properly until that effective date is set. With hundreds of registrations a week, this becomes a lot of additional manual work.

If you or anyone else has any thoughts on a possible solution. If not, I'll keep exploring other avenues. Thank you.
