We are running version 4.28 of the Smith Cart, and DNN version 5.62. We are trying to edit the description of a product. We can make the changes we need to make, but when we click on the Update button, nothing happens. I've looked for the little rotating circle that indicates IE is waiting for the server, but it's not there. We've waited and waited, thinking something else is going on, but nothing happens. It's as if the click is just ignored.
The Back button, and other controls on the page work fine.
To give you the full picture, the page is secured through SSL, and we are using the SSLRedirect module from Sanibel Logic to handle the redirection to https. Our own skin is applied to the page.
The site is in developement, and not live yet, but we are scheduled to launch next week.
Thanks for any assistance that anyone can provide. Let me know if you need screenshots or any further information.

What am I missing? Shouldn't this be simple? I just want to change the price, and description of a product.
I go to my Store page that has the Smith.BuyNow module on it. I click the Admin Menu icon and get the Store Admin Main Menu. I click the Manage Products button and get the listing of products. I click the Edit link for the product I want to edit and I'm taken to the Add Products screen (I expected a "Modify Products" screen, but ok). I change the price from 19.95 to 29.95. I scroll all the way down to the bottom and click on the "Update" button.
Nothing happens.
I've read the User's Manual slowly, and I think thoroughly. I've scrutinized all settings. What am I missing? Is there an Enable Product Editing box somewhere or something?
I'm running SC version 4.28, DNN 5.62, and I'm logged in as admin.
I am experiencing this same problem at a hosted site that I'm building for my client, and I'm experiencing the same problem on my localhost site that I'm experimenting with. The hosted site has a licensed copy of the Smith Cart. The localhost site has a trial copy of Smith Cart. The Store page on the hosted site is set up with SSL security. The localhost site has no security set up.
I don't know where to go next. Is this a bug? Or just a self-inflicted setup problem?
Thanks for your help.

Check for any required fields that you missed like weight or qty on hand. Also, did you import your products or enter them thru the gui?
Also, check your dnn event viewer for any errors.

Hi Scott.
I entered the product through the GUI. I did not import it. I've tried several "test" products since, each entered through the GUI also. Same problem.
I did discover that if I enter all product data, and click the Submit button, the Submit button changes to Update. If then, *before I leave the screen* I edit something and click the Update button, the changes are saved. If however, I leave the screen, then come back in as I described previously, and edit something and click the Update button, nothing happens.
I have checked and double and triple checked, and data has been supplied all required fields.
I checked the DNN Event Viewer, and there are no entries for today except the Login Success admin message. I scanned back to prior days when I've been testing this, and no error messages are logged there at all.

Have you added categories for your product? Make sure that you have added categories for your product before trying to update the product again.

Yep, I added categories. I have two categories. I just created a test product to confirm. Here's what I did.
In the Add Product screen, I entered all required data. Then, before clicking the Submit button, I clicked the Categories option in the gray menu bar at the top of the Add Products screen. I displayed a message saying, "Please add a product first." So I clicked the "Submit" button.
Then I tried the Category button again and it let me go there and specify the categories. I clicked both categories and saved them. It saved with no problem.
Then I clicked on the Products options in the grey menu bar at the top and it displayed the test product. I altered the price, scrolled to the bottom, and clicked the Update button.
Nothing happened. The price change did not get saved.

Hi Glen, Just read your email you sent to support and in the email you mentioned that you are using the SSLRedirect module from Sanibel Logic. This module may be whats causing the issue. I remember from another forum post, not sure if it was you, but there were some similar issues running that SSL Redirect module. As a test can you turn off the SSL redirect to see if the update product works? Also, try creating a new dnn 5.6.3 sandbox without the sll redirect module and install the latest version of the cart 4.46 and test to see if you can save a product correctly.

How can I get a copy of SC 4.46? I clicked on the Download icon on the left side of the forums, but it told me I do not have access to that page. Should I just download a trial copy?
I will do as you suggest first thing in the morning (after I get a copy of SC 4.46) and let you know the results.

Hi Glen,
If you do not have access to the downloads page please send me your purchase receipt and userID on our site to kevin@smith-consulting.com so I can give you access to the downloads page.
Thanks,

Ok, here's what I've done so far today:
Installed a fresh new DNN 5.62 sandbox on my local machine running a SQL Server Express Edition. I did not add any modules, or change any skins. This is a fresh out of the box installation. I installed version 4.28 of the Smith Cart (I still don't have access to the Downloads page to get version 4.46). I performed the steps listed below.
Notice the Error Message about half way down the list of steps. Also, at the end, nothing happens when Update button is clicked.
I then installed a fresh out-of-the-box DNN 5.6.3 sandbox and took care to repeat the exact same steps. I got the exact same results, including the error message about half way down, and the Update button did not work again.
Here are the exact steps I took in both cases:
Install Smith Cart
Create Store page
Create Product Details page
Install Smith.BuyNow module on Store page
Install Smith.ProductDetail module on Product Details page
Open Store page
Configured the Smith.BuyNow module as instructed in the Quick Start manual.
Click on Admin Menu
Click on Manage Categories
Add two categories and exit Manage Categories tool
Click Manufacturers
Add two manufacturers and exit Manufacturers tool
Click Add Products
Fill in all require fields for new product.
Click Submit - get Product Save Successfully message
Click on Categories in gray menu bar at top -
**Taken out of Admin tool back to Store Page with the following error message displayed:
**"A critical error has occurred. Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
Click Admin Menu
Click Manage Products
Click Edit link for product added above.
Click Categories item in gray menu bar - this time I'm taken into Product Categories
Select Cat One and click Save Categories button - get Categories Saved message
Click Products item in gray menu bar at top - taken to Add Products
Change price from 19.99 to 29.99.
Scroll down to bottom and click Update button.
Nothing happens. Price change is not saved.
When I get access to the Downloads page, I'll get SC version 4.46 and try these same steps again.

I received access to the Downloads page and was able to download version 4.46 of the Smith Cart. I installed another fresh out-of-the-box DNN 5.6.2 version on my desktop and install SC 4.46 there.
I went through the same steps as I listed in my previous post.
The changes to the existing Product were successfully saved! This solves my initial problem, and I'm a happy camper!
A note of interest, I am still getting the error message that says, "A critical error has occurred. Object reference not set to an instance of an object." I will send an email to support with the list of steps to recreate this so that they may look into it.
But first, I'm going to upgrade my site with SC 4.46 and test there. As a final post for this thread (assuming it works on my hosted site), I will let you know the results.
By the way, SC 4.46 is way cool. Nice changes to the setup pages!

Ok, there's still a problem.
It looks like the clean install on a clean DNN sandbox went ok. However, an upgrade of SC version 4.28 to SC 4.46 appears to leave the problem in place on existing products.
To upgrade, I simply installed SC 4.46 over the top of SC 4.28 on the DNN 5.6.2 sandbox on my desktop. The installation seemed to go fine, but when I went to the Store page, and clicked on the little pencil to edit one of the products, I changed the price and clicked the Update button. It gave me the message "Product Saved" but when I exited the screen and went back to the Store page, the price had not been change. The old price was still there.
So I went in and added a new product, then tried to change it's price. This time, the change was taken.
It looks like existing products still have a problem, but what ever the problem is, it doesn't happen when new product are added.
Tomorrow, I am going to try to do a clean install and see what happens. I'll let you know.
I'm lucky, in that I am just developing this site, and only have two products entered. I can do a clean install without worrying about losing my existing products. I'm worried about people that have hundreds of products.
