Hi Patrick,

I have been able to replicate this issue on our test portal using 4.28 however I was able to get tax to calculate property using v.4.31. I recommend you download the latest version of the cart v4.31 for DNN 5 to fix this issue.

Thanks, Kevin

Hello Kevin,

I have installed the latest version. 4.31 and that taxes are still not working properly. Could you please try to do an upgrade from 4.28 to 4.31 and see if the problem still occurs, rather than analyzing from a new install of 4.31?

Is there possibly a script I can run to add the tax tables to the databasae properly that's not being carried over on the upgrades?

We just need, Flat Tax - Kentucky, 6%

I'm also having other issues now. I've attached a screen shot. The layout is all out of wack after the upgrade.. Just point me in the right direction to alter this.

And, tried to use the new search feature and it's saying I need a license key.

I'm rolling back to previous version... It knocked out my shipping settings also.

I'm hoping to see some type of resolve on moving from one version to the next. There are too many updates on a regular basis, which is good.. but when the update knocks out many settings, and some that I'm initially unaware of, this can be bad.

Thank you for your response.

Hi Patrick,

I will attempt to upgrade from 4.28 and try to reproduce the issue.

In regard to the alignment issues, this had been addressed so you may have an older release of 4.31. To update the changes made, please do the following.

1. Download the latest version of the Cart to your local computer and extract the files in the zip.
2. Extract the files in resources.zip
3. Copy all the dll files from the \bin folder on your local computer to the \bin folder on your server
4. Copy the ascx files from the \desktopmodules\Smith.BuyNow folder on your local computer to the \desktopmodules\Smith.BuyNow folder on your server.

Thanks, Kevin

Kevin,

This didn't do anything but break the cart. When clicking on a product I got the famous "Object not set, etc..."

It did not fix the layout issues. I followed your instructions specifically.

Instead of immediately rolling back the cart, I did a "repair install" as if I was upgrading, and it eliminated the errors, except for the layout. I have the products listed on 2 columns at this time (* Customer not happy with that... I told them I was working on it.)

Taxes still do not work.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Patrick

Hi Patrick,

I would recommend backing up your data and doing a clean install using the following forum post: https://www.smith-consulting.com/Foru...

The layout alignment issue is currently in programming and a hotfix should be released very soon.

In regard to the search module licensing, the Search module is a separate and premium module in Smith Cart.

Thanks, Kevin

I shouldn't have to go through this many issues.

Let me know when you have the availability.

Thanks.

Hi Patrick,

I have logged into your site and while reviewing your Cart Settings I noticed that you have "Enable Tax Exempt by Role" enabled with 2 exempt roles. I'm not sure which role you were logged in as when testing but if you have any tax exempt roles selected then the exempt status applies to the host and any users that have administrators privileges.

I then logged out so I wouldn't fall into the tax exempt role and added a product to the cart, filled in the ship to address section on the Cart page and when I selected the shipping method from the dropdown tax was calculated correctly.

Thanks, Kevin

Similar problem here. I'm using DNN 5.6.2 and SmithCart 4.42. I have Tax Exempt checked on the product and "Flat Tax States in Taxable States List" selected in the BuyNow module. The tax is still being carried forward to the check out. I also had to do a clean install as I had problems similar to the above posts with the upgrade from 4.36. I uninstalled the SmithCart modules and then removed tables and stored procs from the DB. Any more info available on the Tax Exempt issue?

Edit: I just noticed the "Clean Install" prodecure referenced above... eh. Looks like I missed the "clean out the desktopmodules directory" step. Back to square 1.

Hi Mike,

I just tested the scenario you described above and was able to have the Tax Exempt product checkout without applying the Tax Rate so the reason you may still being charged tax may be bacause the desktopmodules directory wasn't cleaned cleaned out. You are also welcome to login to our test site www9.smith-consulting.com and try to replicate the error. This will determine if the issue is with the latest version of the cart or an issue with your specific dnn portal/cart install. Send an email to kevin@smith-consulting.com to receive loging credentials for the test portals.

Thanks

Kevin - The Tax settings seem to work with the new clean install. I'm still having problems with the star rating system. I've tried the rating system in IE9 and Chrome. I'm unable to change the rating from the default of 2. I do see a "javascript:void(0)" message on the bottom status bar (not shown in attachment). Is there a DNN security option or browser option that needs to be enabled?

Hi Mike,

I have been able to replicate not being able to increase the rating from 2 stars and have sent this into programming. An update should be available very soon.

Thanks,

Hi - I'm getting a problem with the tax calculation. My state has a flat tax rate of 7%. Only taxable items need to have the shipping charges taxed. I selected the appropriate field in the Shipping and Handling Setup - "Tax shipping only for taxable products". For the non-taxable items, there is still tax charges being calculated on the shipping. I do have the Tax Exempt field checked for the product. Please advise.

Hi Mike,

I have been able to verify that the Cart is charging tax for Shipping if "Tax shipping only for taxable products" and "Tax Exempt" are both enabled. I sent this into programming and will post back as soon as an update is ready.

Thanks,
