Error on Credit Card checkout

I keep getting the error:

We couldn't complete your payment.

Status : False
Message : This transaction cannot be accepted.

I am running cart 4.52

Peter,
That is a decline message from the payment gateway. The cart sends the credit card transaction to the payment gateway and displays the message back from the gateway. Which payment gateway are you using?
