Hi,

I've messed around with the import from Excel functionality a bit, with limited success. Could I please get some clarification on:

1) What are the column headers required, and do their names matter?

2) Do the category and sub-category need to already exist, or do they get created on import?

3) Where do the product photos have to be located?

I'm really hoping to make use of this functionality as it will save me hours of manual effort.

Thanks,

Jeff

Answers below in blue

1) What are the column headers required, and do their names matter?

Including column headings in the first row of the spreadsheet is optional.

Here is a sample product import spreadsheet you can use as a guide.

2) Do the category and sub-category need to already exist, or do they get created on import?

The categories and sub-categories do not need to exist prior to importing they are created during the import.

3) Where do the product photos have to be located?

Product images are located in the following folders:

  • Thumbnail Images - \portals\[yourportalid]\smithcart\thumbnails
  • Large Images - \portals\[yourportalid]\smithcart \images

If you are importing your products then you will need to copy the physical images (jpeg, gif, etc) to the folders defined above. The product import feature is also described in more detail in the users guide on page 123 - here is the link http://www.smith-consulting.com/Porta...
