Question:

Can the cart be used for donations? Can the customer enter their own price for a 'donation' product?

Answer:

Yes the cart supports user entered amounts for donations. There is a check box in the cart settings to enable user entered amounts. It can be used for bill payment or donations.

This doesn't really help for donations - somebody could put $0 in the box and get charged nothing.

Can you do this in the shopping cart where somebody can add to their total?

You could add some javascript validation to validate the amount is greater than zero. Im not sure how opening up the amount on the cart page is going to solve what you want to do, seems like adding some validation on either page would do the same thing, no?

It would be added as a separate amount in the cart as a line item like "Donations" or whatever the administrator wanted to call it.

I will add the ability to modify the amount on the cart screen to the dev list. Thanks for the request.

When will the next version of the cart be available for download? I realize this feature likely won't be part of the next version, but I just want to know when it will be available for download...

Where is this in the development list? Can you please give me an ETA?

Is that a Beta release or has everything been tested? I have not updated since 2.96 and need a download link.

Does this release also fix the adjusted total price with coupon on print page?

Just to be clear these are the features that I was referencing that are completed:

  • Quantity discounts by category
  • Multiple ship to addresses
  • Eway payment gateway
  • OnCheckoutComplete event - Ability to call a custom stored procedure after successful payment has been made on your store

v2.98 is still in beta but is stable we have been testing it in house for a couple days and have about 5 outside customers testing it with no issues reported yet.

Ok, I was asking specifically about the donations - when will that be done? Also, can you email me a link to the new build? Thanks...

The ability to modify the amount on the cart screen to the dev list but not scheduled into programming so I can't give an eta.

You can download the latest version from the cart downloads page:
