My client requires just three payment options for their checkout:
1. Credit Card
2. Internet Banking
3. PayPal

I've setup the Payment Methods for the first two, but when I add the PayPal payment gateway, the checkout skips the payment methods step and always goes to PayPal. How do I set it, so that the customer can choose a payment method?

Hi Bevan,

If you could please provide the version of the cart and DNN you are running?

In addition, I will need to know which paypal gateway you have configured.

If you are using paypal standard you will skip step two in the cart and be redirected to paypal for the payment information to be entered. This is because the payment gateway is hosted.

If you would like the customer to remain on your site to enter and select different payment options you will need to setup a direct payment gateway. Like paypal pro or authroize.net. Both of the following are explained in further detail in the forum post.

The following forum link provides information about the difference betweeen a direct and hosted gateway:

Running DNN 7 and SmithCart 5.57.

And yes I have configured PayPal standard.

I don't understand why it should skip the payment methods step though.

Step 1 the client enters their billing/shipping details, then step 2 is missing and it jumps straight to the confirmation page and THEN when you click Submit Order it goes to PayPal. Why does is not show the Step 2 page so the customer can choose a payment method and then the confirmation page handles which ever payment method was selected in step 2?

Hi Bevan,

The reason step 2 gets skipped is because paypal standard is setup to be your primary gateway. All hosted gateways are programmed to skip page 2 of the cart. If you would like the checkout to work how you are requesting we would need to change the code behind. If you would like receive a fixed quote to change the checkout process please submit a quote request at the following link:

Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns. Thank you!
