I am testing the trial version of SmithCart and when processing to PayPal standard, a paypal error message indicates the currency code is incorrect for Canada. PayPal reads CA .. should be CAD. PayPal error is:

This recipient either does not accept payments denominated in CA or has specified an invalid currency code on his web site. Please contact the seller and ask him either to update his payment receiving preferences to accept this currency or to correct his web site to specify a valid currency code.

Is this a fix I can make in the DB, or an .acsx or .resource file?

How is the currency code set, is this based on user location? Would seem to be a prudent feature to set default currency code.

Also, for Canadian orders, I would like to indicate as "GST" 5% as tax type, not "VST". It would also be nice to have a feature to add a custom tax type.

Thanks

Kelly

I added the currency code for Canada (CAD) for Paypal Standard. In the cart settings you will need to set your default country as Canada for the cart to send the correct currency code to Paypal. Please send me an email to dave@smithcart.com and I will email you the patch.

Hi Dave, I applied the patch and it seemed to correct the CAD currency code issue, however I am seeing two new errors now. The first is when I view orders as admin .. ManageOrderDetail. Seems to lose country info ...

'ddState' has a SelectedValue which is invalid because it does not exist in the list of items. Parameter name: value

As well, another error I see is that I cannot add a new product. The error I get is ... A critical error has occurred.
Parameter count does not match Parameter Value count.

No product is added. I was able to add product before the patch but apparently not now. Not sure if that is a related issue.

I like the general operation of your cart and think many will purchase, but still some minor issues it seems.

Kelly

In addition to the CAD issue for PayPal, I found I few other related issues:

1) In BuyNow settings Canadian Dollars is not in the list (the standard DNN currency list might be a better source)

2) In view cart, the region does not respect the country selected.

I must say that I love the fact that if you modify your dnn account profile, then return to view cart it loads the changes. Bravo!

3) In view cart, the region should use the value from the dnn account profile.

Please keep up the good work!

Q1) In the future, would you prefer us to email issues or post them here for others?

Q2) Should I request the patch via email as well?

Answer: Canadian dollars and US dollars use the same currency symbol ($) you can set the currency symbol to $ in the cart settings. Let me know if that works for you or if you were looking for something different.

2) In view cart, the region does not respect the country selected.

Answer: This is fixed in the latest release of the cart 2.6 will be releasing after testing hopefully tomorrow.
