Show Member Pricing by Role shows the labels and prices in buynow. Other than displaying the info, there is no functionality.

1) buynow: does not change the price (add to cart)

2) buynow: changes add to cart button to options

3) product details: does not display any member pricing info in the new Product Details page

4) cart: member prices are never used

5) Smith_Products: MemberPrice should be removed, it belongs in Smith_ProductMemberPricing

What is supposed to happen?

FWIW, this is the last functional requirement that is preventing us from going live.

This should be working in the latest cart release v3.86. Please double check that in the buynow module settings under the discounts or member pricing section whichever applies to you that you have selected the appropriate radio button for the discount type you have configured.
