I am having a problem trying to setup shipping on my website. whenever I try to add any form of shipping rule, by quantity, by weight I get an error:

"Input string was not in a correct format."

any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am using the latest version of smith cart

dnn version 05.01.04

I just tested this on the www7 test portal running cart v3.95 and was able to add ship costs using the shipping by qty and shipping by weight screens without error. Can you confirm that you are running cart v3.95 and also that you are not entering a currency symbol for the shipping amount or unit of measure for the wieght.

Did you upgrade the cart from a previous version or was this the first time you installed the cart on this portal? Also, the dnn version you are running 5.1 has known bugs you might want to upgrade your dnn.

I finally got the permission to download the newest version, however i am worried what will happen when i upgrade? am i going to loose the current data in the shopping cart? if so it is going to set me back 2/3 weeks of work, is there a way of upgrading without loosing the data?

If you install the cart upgrade your data (products, categories, orders, etc) will not be overwritten. Also the ANZ gateway we programmed for you is a standard gateway option in the cart now so it will always be available as a gateway option when you upgrade. When you install the upgrade the ascx files and css are overwritten so if you made changes direct to those files you should back them up before upgrading. Please see the following forum post if you want to maintain your style changes when upgrading:

This issue existed in one of the older versions I think 3.88. When you installed the new version of the cart did you do a clean install or install over the top of your existing cart?

Yes, i tried multiple times installing and re-installing it. I have even compleatly removed all the tables and stored procedures and files from the previous version and installed a fresh copy.

Do you have any errors in your dnn event viewer? Im not able to replicate this on my dev system or the www7 test portal but there are a lot different combinations of settings for tax, shipping, etc and I may not have configured my cart the exact way you have. Can you login to our test site http://www7.smith-consulting.com/ and try to replicate the error.
