I am currently evaluating Smith Cart at the moment, and I have a few questions relating to a site in which I would like to use the product:

1. Can "Sku" be changed to "Catalogue No." on the product display pages, and can other fields such as "Manufacturer" be changed through the resource files?

2. The site has a fairly complex Category structure. What I would like to be able to do is to display Categories in the following ways:

  • On the main page, by Product Category > Product Sub-Category > Product Sub-Sub-Category (e.g. ORCHESTRA at the top level, followed by Full Orchestra as the Sub-Category, then Composers for these Sub-Categories. I think I can achieve this
  • On another page ("Composers") I would like to be able to display the products by Composer (as the main Category) followed by the Category (Orchestra) then below that the Sub-Categories (e.g. Full Orchestra).

Is it possible with the cart to be able to achieve this on the same portal?

Many thanks for any help you can give.

  1. Yes, you can change "SKU:" to "Catalogue No." or whatever you wish with the resx file (ProductDetails.ascx.resx)
  2. You can use a catogory structure.
  3. This can be achived by putting the BuyNow module on the second page and setting up the category structure however you want, just make sure to enable sharing for each product in the product setup screen.

Thanks,

Christian

Many thanks for this Christian. I'm not quite sure though how I can effectively 'hide' the category structure on the main pages from those on the 2nd page and vice versa? If you could provide me with a little more information, that would be fantastic.

Another couple of things to check, if you don't mind:

1. Can I switch off product images altogether, as these are not needed on the site at all?

2. When adding items to the cart, I'm getting a '30-day trial period expired' message, even though I only installed the modules on 18th February. I need to be able to show the client the whole process, so is there anything I can do to rectify this?

3. I want to be able to show the SKU and Manufacturer on the Product Summary pages - is this possible?

Many thanks,

Mark

  • You can hide the product thumbnail's by opening the productlist.ascx and goto line 67 and add the following highlighted in yellow:

<tr runat="server" id="trThumb" visible="false">

  • No one else has reported this problem, did you change the date on your system?
  • Yes, that's possible by selecting Show Product SKU and Show Product Summary in the BuyNow module settings.

Thanks,

Christian

Thanks for these points, Christian. I can confirm that the system date has not been changed.

Best wishes

Mark
