I have the Smith.BuyNow module > Settings set to Use Tax Tables, with California set as the Taxable State. I have "Use Step 1 Dropdown List in Tax Lookup" checked. I have 8.25 entered in the Tax Rate box.

Two problems:

1. When a city is entered but not spelled correctly (or if is the name of an unincorporated community that is commonly accepted by the Post Office but not an actual incorporated city), California sales tax is zero. It seems to me that the cart should default to the 8.25% sales tax if "California" is selected as the state. This needs to be fixed ASAP because otherwise a California sale could occur without sales tax collected!

2. Sometimes even with a correct California address entered, sales tax is zero unless you happen to update the Calclulate Shipping.

These are both serious issues and, given the legal ramifications to the storeowner, frankly, showstoppers.

Steve

You can modify the stored procedure "Smith_GetTaxRate" to return a default tax rate if no match is found in your tax table.
