Recurring billing can be used with variants and you can use the Price Adjustment feature add an extra charge for the different variant options but the recurring billing interval must set at the product level. At this time the recurring interval cannot be set at the variant level, so the best option would be to create a separate produt for each recurring interval option.

Copying a product can be completed by using the SQL Management Studio and importing the products using the "Import Products" feature.
