Does this describe you:

  • You sell 'virtual' goods that your customer can download; ex: software, music (not CDs), e-books, etc.
  • You live in a State that charges Sales Tax on these products (ie not California)
  • Some of your customers live in the same State as you, and qualify for Sales Tax

Have you noticed if the Sales Tax is calculated correctly in this case?

As recently as Shopping Cart ver. 4.34, if I sell a product with no shipping cost, the Sales Tax is zero, even when it shouldn't be.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is there a work-around?

I reported similar problems with HST in Canada. Thanks for sharing the shipping charge information because that might be the clue to help resolve this.

In cart v4.36 released tomorrow the issue you describe where no tax is being charged when you are configured for free shipping has been fixed.
