Hello,

In the last few days in SmithCart, I have had a couple hundred orders go through and have revieced dozens of "Message Delivery Failure" emails bounce back. These look to be valid email addresses so I am unsure why they would bounce.

Any ideas why there are so many bounces? Are the customers really not getting their confirmation?

Smith Cart version: 4.28.0
DNN version: 05.06.02 (144)

Is there any more information in the bounce back message?

They can be caused by your or their smtp, timeouts, busy servers, blacklists, SPF, just to name a few. First you have to determine the fault then the cause.

Hi Aaron,

Were the emails going through previously?

Some hosting companies/email service providers don't allow replacing the "from" email with an email address other than the one you authenticate with under the dnn host settings smtp section. For example, if you are using google apps, etc for your email server then they will replace the "from" address with the email account you authenticate with in your host smtp settings. Alot of email services consider this a relay which spammers are famous for. What email service are you using for your email?

Thanks

I am hosted at 3essentials.com and in the SMTP settings it has dnnadmin@domainA.com with a password and in the order confirmation email I have orders@domainB.com. You think it is the replacing issue you mentioned? What can I do to fix that?

You need to contact your hosting company and ask them if they support this type of relay on their email servers that allows you to send an email where the "from" address is different from the email address that you authenticate with (dnn host smtp settings). If they dont support this type of relay then your options are to use a different email service that supports this type of relay or use the same "from" email address (buynow settings) as you have configured in your dnn host smtp settings.
