I uploaded the Smithscart extension to my website and have
carefully setup the store as per the manual. All works fine except the order confirmation emails don't send. emails from my site otherwise seem to work fine I can send from other feedback modules.

If I manually send the order confirmation from the Manage orders module I get the error 'email confirmation failed'

I'm using DNN 05.04.66 , and Smith Cart 4.42.

Hi Robert,

In Cart v.4.36 we added "Email Template Management" in the Admin Menu to customize the look of your store's emails. Have you set up or enabled the email templates?

 Yes I enabled the 3 default templates with no changes.

This is the message from the site log

StackTrace : at Smith.DNN.Modules.BuyNow.ManageOrderDetail.SendMail(String emailType)
Error : Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Have you configured your SMTP settings in your Host Settings properly?  Please see the following post for more info: http://www.smith-consulting.com/forum...

If your SMTP have been configured correctly, were the emails going through previously in the cart?

Some hosting companies/email service providers don't allow replacing the "from" email with an email address other than the one you authenticate with under the dnn host settings smtp section. For example, if you are using google apps, etc for your email server then they will replace the "from" address with the email account you authenticate with in your host smtp settings. Alot of email services consider this a relay which spammers are famous for. What email service are you using for your email?

Hi Kevin

I had been using the shopping cart avaliable from the DNN community downloads before I decided to upgrade to Smith Cart and emails from that store always worked fine.

I am able to send mails from my site from other feedback modules

The host - SMTP Settings - send test email -  is always successful

I have checked with my hosting provider and they can't see any reason for it not to work

Hi Robert,

In the Cart Setting have you entered the To and From email addresses? Or do you have more than one BuyNow module in use that you may also need to set the email templates for?

Hi Kevin

My Hosting provider is also my email provider. I am using the same "from" email address that is authenticated in the host settings of DNN. I am able to test successfuly from the host settings SMTP settings, I am able to send mail from other modules on my site.

Have contacted my hosting provider and their technical team has assured me that all settings are correct. They uninstalled the Smith cart module making sure all files were deleted from the root folder as well as the datadase, they then reinstalled the module which installed, as before, perfectly with no errors. I setup the store again as per the manual, loaded the email templates again and tried again but still the cart does not send order or admin emails.

On submitting an order the following message is written to the site log

StackTrace  at Smith.DNN.Modules.BuyNow.SCMail.SendMail(Int32 buyNowTabModuleID, CustomerInfo customer, StoreOrdersInfo order, BillingAccountInfo account, EmailLabelInfo ei, BuyNowSettingsInfo bi, UserInfo ui, String emailType) at Smith.DNN.Modules.BuyNow.ManageOrderDetail.SendMail(String emailType)
 Error : Could not load type 'DotNetNuke.ComponentModel.ComponentBase`2' from assembly 'DotNetNuke, Version=5.4.2.66, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'.

I really don't know what else to do..

Upgrading your DNN to 5.5 or 5.6 will fix it.
