Hi Guys,

So I have followed the instructions to add a downloadable product, add the paths, set encryption etc, but how does Smith Cart distinguish these downloadable products from actual products like books. In my case, I have eBooks and actual Books for sale but I want people to see that they are two seperate things.

Many thanks,
James

Hi James,

I'm not sure I fully understand your question, are you inquiring as to how the Cart determines if the product needs to have a shipping rate applied or not?

Thanks,

Hi Kevin,

If I am selling books, I would like there to be some way to distinguish if a book is an actual book or if it will be an eBook. From what I can see, the only way to know this is right of the sales process when a download button becomes available but what I need in the product list is some kind of visual element to show that this is an eBook or a normal book the client might be buying.

Hope this makes more sense?
Cheers,
James

I think the best solution to this is to upload the books as two separate product and in the title, mention that one is an eBook and the other is normal book.

We tried the variations route which would have been a good solution but the variations option does not allow you to add a download file. The download file is only allowed on the base product and not on variations.

Is there a better way to do this maybe?

Thanks,
James

Hi James,

Just a suggestion, perhaps you could have separate Categories, or separate Product Listing pages with each with their own BuyNow module.

Thanks,
