Hi Guys,

Is it possible to make available a very stripped down version of Smith Cart? If we plan to implement the cart for more clients using DNN, we would prefer having a stripped down version of your cart so that we can implement the cart to the client's final design layout without first having to clean out the current CSS in the Smith Cart.

If I may make a suggestion. Sitefinity has the ability to skin any of their modules the way you want by mapping to their core modules with your own version of their module files. This makes upgrading a lot simpler as you only need to overwrite THEIR core modules and not your own. This way, the time spent on making huge changes to Smith Cart will not be duplicated when a new version of Smith Cart comes out.

If this is already a suggestion and I have missed it, I apologise.

Cheers,

James

Hi James,

Currently, in the Cart there are many BuyNow module settings that allow you to configure the look and feel of the product listing page which is a plus for users who dont know html/css. This allows users who dont want to get involved in html/css they can simply check a few checkboxes and change the layout of their products but for power users like yourself who are comfortable with html/css we have been thinking that a templating system for the product list and detail page would be a nice feature to have in the cart. We have been looking at different options but have not decided on a path to take yet. If you have any ideas on a templating approach we would definitely like to hear your feedback. Also, if you have made changes to the product list or product details ascx pages and and impoved the html/css please send your changes to support@smith-consulting.com and will review and add to the main cart build so you get those changes if you do any upgrades in the future.

Also, not sure if you have seen this "how to" forum post yet that describes how to style the cart per portal and also explains how to style your cart so you don't lose your changes when you upgrade, here is the link http://www.smith-consulting.com/Forum...

Thanks,

Hi Kevin,

Thanks again for getting back to me on this and although I have seen this, the changes we have made have not only been to the CSS but to the ASCX pages too meaning an upgrade will mean overwriting what we have done already.

I think the best way to do this is to go down the suggested Sitefinity mapping route (http://bit.ly/ohOvKu), otherwise, have a look at the Joomla route they have taken. They too have a method of "mapping" to a module without having touching the core Joomla modules. I forget what their method is called, but in principle, it's the same thing.

Cheers,
James

In the meantime Kevin, we would like to use Smith Cart for more of our client's designs so we would appreciate it, if you can send us a version, completely stripped of any css classes and ID's so that we can put together a barebones version which we will then extend according to the client's design.

If you don't have this version available, we will do it ourselves. It would just save us a hell of a lot of time.

Many thanks.
James

Hi James,
We don't currently offer a stripped down barebones version of SmithCart with no css classes as the css is required to maintain proper formatting throughout the cart.

Thanks,
