Hi Rico,

Have you installed multiple BuyNow modules on your site?

If you have Free Shipping configured in your Cart Settings then the Ship To fields will not be displayed on the Cart page whether you are logged in or not. The Ship To information is used only when calculating shipping rates so if you have Free Shipping then there are no shipping rates to be applied.

When the Country has been set in the Cart Settings, it will be automatically populated in the Country field in the Ship To area on the Cart screen whether you are logged in or not.

The reason the Ship To fields are not shown on the www12 Demo Site is the Shipping has been set to Ship By Order Amount which allows the following:

Fixed shipping costs by the total order amount
Fixed shipping costs by shipping method and order amount.
Fixed shipping costs by product category and order amount.

If the Shipping by Order Amount has been selected in the Cart Settings then you must configure the Shipping rates and parameters in the Shipping section of the Admin Menu otherwise the Shipping Method dropdown will remain blank.

You will be presented with the "Change" button if you have already entered the the Ship To information and proceeded to the next step. This is because you are still in session to prevent the user from having to reenter their information.

Hi Kevin,

 

I have found what caused the 'Ship To' fields to be displayed in the 'View Cart' page (and even if the shipping is set to free): In the tax setup section, just select the '  [So saying "If you have Free Shipping configured in your Cart Settings then the Ship To fields will not be displayed on the Cart page" is not true as it can be displayed for calculating EU VAT].

So this option shows the 'Ship To' fields in order that the user enters its VAT number. But with this option combination (Free shipping & EU VAT), it is possible to proceed to next step (Step 1: Shipping) even if the country field (and the others that are mandatory) is not filled with a country.

 

"When the Country has been set in the Cart Settings, it will be automatically populated in the Country field in the Ship To area on the Cart screen whether you are logged in or not." : apparently, this is not true with the options choosen above

 

The only thing left to reproduce the error is not to have a country selected the first time a user make a purchase (this can be 'forced' by restarting the web server - that is not as usual, but can happen...).

 

Finally, thanks for the different display appearance (confirm or change button) explanation in the cart view page.

 

Hope you will be able to reproduce the problem this time.

Anyone has any update about this error ? There has been no reply for 8 days so I cannot know if the bug has been reproduced or if more info are needed.

Hi Rico,

I have been able to replicate the issue of being able to proceed to the Step 1 page of the checkout without entering the Ship To information on the cart page which in turn causes an error after filling out the information on the Step 2 page of checkout. I have sent this issue into programming and will report back as soon as an update is available.

Hi Kevin and glad you have reproduced the problem.

 

Tested with the version 4.67 and now the 'Invoice To' step cannot be left without having filled the required fields ;  so the bug cannot occur anymore.
