When I mark the page holding the Buy Now module as secure, the page returns a 404 error. I can go to all other pages I have tried without issue. I have followed all the steps in the How to enable SSL in the cart post.

We are using DNN 5.5 and Smithcart 3.96

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Jeremy,

We are unable to try to replicate the issue you reported above as we don’t maintain source code for versions of the Cart more than 3 versions back. The current version of the cart is 4.60. To confirm the issue is fixed in the latest version of the cart you can download the trial version and then upgrade to the latest build to fix the issue. You may also login to our test site http://www7.smith-consulting.com/ and try to replicate the error. This will determine if the issue is with the latest version of the cart or an issue with your specific dnn portal/cart install. I would recommend upgrading your Cart as we release new versions of the cart frequently with bug fixes, security patches and new features which provides a level of protection for your ecommerce site.

Please email me at kevin@smith-consulting.com if you need login credentials.

Thanks,

I am happy to update to the latest, but will I need to buy a new license since it has been almost a year since we installed it? The client is happy with the general functionality and until I saw this issue, there was no reason to update.

Hi Jeremy,
In DNN, SSL is enforced at the portal or page level.  The buynow module sits on a page that has ssl enforced or not.  The buynow module doesnt do anything specifically to enable or disable SSL  I think the issue is an incorrect SSL setup.  The following are possible issues with your SSL:

1.  Your SSL cert is bad or your SSL cert has not been properly installed on your server

2.  In IIS, SSL has not been enabled properly or port 443 has not been enabled

3.  Your firewall is not allowing port 443 traffic.

I dont think upgrading will fix the SSL issue but here is the upgrade info you requested for your reference.

We offer 3 months of free upgrades on the cart from the date of purchase. To get the new version after that you have the following two options:

Option 1 - Sign up for the cart maintenance plan
https://www.smith-consulting.com/pd/p... or just purchasing the latest version of the cart.

Option 2 - If you are within 6 months of your purchase date we will send you a coupon for 50% off the cart.

To confirm the issue is fixed in the latest version of the cart you can also download the trial version and then upgrade to the latest build to fix the issue.

Thanks,

The problem turned out to be with the version of DNN we are using on this site. 5.5.0 has an error with SSL pages, a quick web.config update fixed the problem.

Thanks for looking into this.

Hi Jeremy,

Thanks for posting back with the solution to the issue you were experiencing and glad that an update of DNN was the resolution.

Thanks,
