HI SC,

Using SC 4.99. I currently use the basic "Shipping By Order Amount" because I like its simplicity. I don't use shipping zones.

I am going to change and set up shipping just by weight, also regardless of zone.

The user guide says this is possible (page 177, first bullet point), but I can only see "Zone Shipping By Weight" and "Custom Ship Methods By Weight". 

So here is the problem. If I select Zone Shipping By Weight, or Custom Ship Methods By Weight, then when the customer gets to the cart, it says Shipping = $0, and it prompts the customer for their postal address to calculate shipping. But with shipping by weight (and not zone), I just want the cart to add up the weight of each item and calculate the shipping right there before entering an address.

So in the same way that "shipping by order amount" displays the shipping price in the cart regardless of postal address, is it possible for shipping by weight to do the same and display the shipping price before the user enters their address?

Hi Daniel,

The Shipping by Weight shipping method requires a Shipping Method to be configured as well as chosen by the user on the Cart page in order to calculate the Shipping Cost for the weight of the Products added to the Cart. Currently the ability for the Cart to calculate the cost of shipping based on the weight added to the Cart the same way the Shipping by Order Amount does is not supported however we are available to program this for you.
