We would like more advanced product category features:

- Separate module, allowing us to change positioning on page and/or use it as links on different pages

- Multiple levels: category/sub-category/department

- Choice of display options: drop-down boxes / tree view

- Ajax postbacks when user selects category

- Count of products listed at each branch/leaf in tree view

Would like to see a main page with category listings (preferrably with an associated thumbnail). Clicking on category woould take you to a listing of only those items in that category. Currently need to install buy.now on separate pages to do this.

Thanks

You can do this with the cart today without adding the buynow module to seperate pages. The product listing page of the cart allows you to filter products by category by passing the category id in the querystring. For example:

http://www.airsoftguns360.com/Home/tabid/38/Default.aspx?categoryid=1

When the category id is passed in the querystring the products are filtered by category.

This feature will allow you to create your own separate category page or module of links or images.

I guess I'm unclear on how to "pass the query string". I have the flag set to "Show Categories". When clicking on the category names I do not see any cahnge in the products.

If you are using the built in categories you shouldnt have to pass anything in the querystring the product list should be filtered automatically. Can you send a link to your site and an admin login to dave@smithcart.com and I will take a look.
