Error after installing license

I installed the license and now i get this error: A critical error has occurred.

Access to the path 'c:\inetpub\wwwroot\smithreglicense1' is denied.

Looking at the error its trying to access the license files in the c:\inetpub\wwwroot folder. Do you have your dnn install directly in the wwwroot folder? If you are using a hosting service Im sure they dont allow read permissions in the wwwroot folder. The root of your dnn site should be in its own folder under inetpub or on another drive entirely from where iis is running.

I sorry I think i reposted This insted of replying. Yes the DNN install is in the wwwroot forlder, but we are not using a hosting service we own all the hardware. our servers are in a server farm.

On your server make sure you have permission set properly in your dnn root folder to access binary files and also permission to access files with no extension and the extension "key"
