I have a shopping cart for a client that I am currently testing with small monetary transactions.

When I try to pay for an item/order on the Web site, at the Confirmation page, after clicking the Submit Order button, I wind up getting a message below...

"We couldn't complete your payment.

Status : failure
Message : Security error".

-----

  • It is still in trial mode.

  • I do not have a PayPal checkout option at present time, though I tested it earlier with that option and payment was successful on the PayPal site/account itself, independent of Smith Cart.

  • The Payment Gateway is Paypal Website Payments Pro, and the cart is currently not in test mode since I am testing with small monetary amounts.

  • The only payment option I have presently is a Credit Card option, might open up other options later like checking if I can get this working.

  • The cart recognizes a credit card number/security code and other info that is legitmate or false, since I accidentally entered wrong card information at one point.

  • My billing info seems accurate.

  • The API signature/credentials used with PayPal Website Payments pro seem correct, based off what my client gave me (next time we have a meeting I might get new credentials to see if this actually is the problem)...

But no success getting a transaction to go through still on the Web site itself, once I try to click the Submit Order button on Confirm page, the message pops up.

Am I missing other settings or factors?

Much thanks,
Jack

Hi Jack,

Which version of the Cart and DNN are you currently running?

I would recommend applying for a PayPal Website Payment Pro test account using the following link:
https://developer.paypal.com/

Thanks,

DNN Version 6.00.00

Smith Cart 4.86.00 (Trial)

Will look into a test account for Website Payments Pro.

Ok, new issues.  This comes after setting up a PayPal Sandbox Test account successfully with Website Payments Pro settings and setting the API credentials accordingly on Smith Cart.  The Sandbox test account has a test bank account, test credit card, and is verified.

See below, in quotes, what I sent to PayPal merchant services.  This is after getting a Shopping cart error...

"We couldn't complete your payment.

Status: failure

Message:  Internal Error"

"Am testing a shopping cart for a client under Website Payments Pro, Test/Sandbox mode.

API Sandbox Credentials are set up on the Sandbox account, Sandbox business is verified, test bank account/credit card set up. API Sandbox credentials are set properly in the shopping cart environment.

When I get to the point to submit an order/monetary transaction, I get the message...
"We couldn't complete your payment.

Status : failure
Message : Internal Error"

I am using a test Visa Account number of 4111111111111111. I am assuming it doesn't matter what the expiration date and security code of test account credit cards are, as I've typed them in randomly each time trying to test.

If this helps, the Website is a DotNetNuke content manager Web site, and the shopping cart is what is referred to as a DotNetNuke Module, and that module name is the Smith Cart.

Please let me know if you need more information.

Thanks,
Jack"

EDIT:  UPDATE around 3:15pm local time (1:15 Pacific Time)...

Got off the phone with PayPal Merchant Services a short while ago, for whatever reason a test credit card number would not work in the Sandbox environment (I used 4111111111111111, Visa Card).  That was the only issue.  Basically he told me to generate a new credit card in the sandbox environment and use that.

Transaction successful in Smith Cart.

I still need to tailor thank you messages/confirmations and things like that, going to continue to do that in Sandbox mode, hopefully when I go back to the regular Website Payment Pro settings, no more issues then.

Progress and *fingers crossed*!!!!

Hi Jack,
The PayPal Website Payments Pro gateway uses a dll from PayPal that requires a full trust environment. Are you running your dnn portal in full trust?

I'm not sure.  Still testing things successfully in the sandbox environment.

I just looked up this thread (Paypal integrations and full trust) http://www.smith-consulting.com/forum... so I'm assuming when I change back to normal/non-sandbox, follow the brief steps from that thread and I should be good to go?

EDIT:  Update (around 3:20 local time, 1:30PT on Thurs. 2/9)

Did as instructed in Webconfig file and eventually got the shopping cart working with new API credentials yesterday evening.

Thanks for the assistance!

Jack
