Hi im getting the following error after upgrading from 4.99 to 5.00

EXCEPTION bindDtProductList: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

STACK TRACE bindDtProductList: at Smith.DNN.Modules.BuyNow.ProductsList.dtProductslist_ItemCreated(Object sender, DataListItemEventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.WebControls.DataList.OnItemCreated(DataListItemEventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.WebControls.DataList.CreateItem(Int32 itemIndex, ListItemType itemType, Boolean dataBind, Object dataItem) at System.Web.UI.WebControls.DataList.CreateControlHierarchy(Boolean useDataSource) at System.Web.UI.WebControls.BaseDataList.OnDataBinding(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.WebControls.BaseDataList.DataBind() at Smith.DNN.Modules.BuyNow.ProductsList.bindDtProductList()

I have ensured that all the page and invoice templates are created and recreated them just to make sure there were no changes between 4.99 and 5

i have also restarted the website in iis, recycled app pools etc.

the end result is no products appear.

Is this something that can easily be resolved?

Cheers Marcus

Same problem here. No products in product list however the products are still available in the manage products menu.

Hi Guys,

Can you confirm that the either the ProductListSingleColumn.ascx or ProductListMultiColumn.ascx Page Template files have been saved in the Portals\0\SmithCart\Templates folder?

Thanks,

Hi Kevin

I checked the folder specified and the templates were there, however upon reviewing the datetime stamps of the files they were not updated during the upgrade (which makes sense) but they were not even after updated after the deletion and reentry of the templates using the smith cart administration panel.

I deleted the templates via the admin panel and then I manually removed the templates directly via the file system.  I then readded the templates to ensure they were registered in smith cart and all is well.

In short, for others i guess the process is

  1. Backup your current templates
  2. Do the upgrade
  3. Delete your templates in admin and from the tempalte folder via the file system
  4. Recreate with the system and ensure the timestamps have changed on the file system
  5. Merge your backup templates with the new templates manually.... :(

let me know if this works for you as well Ian.

Cheers Marcus

P.S. Thanks Kevin, and might be worth working out a automatic upgrade of the template files or even potentially just a change log in that area so minor changes to existing custom templates can be made.

Hi

I initially only added a single column template but when I added the multicolumn template as well the product list started working. The multicolumn template doesn't seem to be working.

I tried Marcus's suggestions but the files in the template folder aren't recreated and don't seem to be updated by changes in the system.

Regards
Ian

Hi Ian

This is the specific order i completed the changes

I basically moved them both on the file system out of the template folder so the template directory was blank (without adjusting anything in the store admin) then cleared cache, restarted application etc the listings appeared so i then went in and deleted the the store admin templates and recreated them (i don't think this part did anything).  I then refreshed the file system after doing this both files were there with brand new time stamps.

It could be likely that the 2 files were just auto generated when i removed the files directly given the fact there were templates specified in the store admin but Kevin may have to shed some light on this.

Hope you can get yours working.

Regards Marcus
