PayPal Stopped working

The cart has been working fine using Paypal in addition to our gateway but in the last few weeks we are now getting an error.

User selects they want to pay with paypal
On the confirmation page where you check to agree to the terms click "submit order"
Note that "submit order" is suppose to take you to paypal to complete the payment. It does not, instead it refreshes screen and gives back:

Error processing payment. Please try again. PAYPALSTD

What is causing this and how do we fix this?

If you could please provide what version of the cart and DNN you are running it will help to resolve this issue.

In addition, we will need to know what paypal gateway you are using.

Have you made any changes to your site since it stopped working?

Are there any errors being logged to your DNN event veiwer?
