Can you please explain the options we would have for Quickbooks integration with Smith Cart and how it might work?

Yes our shopping cart comes integrated with QuickBooks Merchant Services (QBMS). The way it works is the user enters their info including credit card number in the cart checkout then when they click process payment the cart sends the transaction to QBMS for authorization and returns an approved or declined message. All the info saved in the cart database.

If you are running the web version of quickbooks then the credit card transactions are automatically available in your account. If you are running the desktop version of quickbooks or are running quickbooks from your server then the credit card transactions must be downloaded from the quickbooks virtual terminal to your local copy of quickbooks.

The cart also has a feature that allows you to export your customers and orders to an iif file that can be imported to quickbooks.

Quickbooks offers an api for real time integration of your customer and order transactions between the cart and quickbooks. We developed a c# program for another one of our customers using the QB API that exported customer and orders info from our shopping cart and imported it to QB using their API on a real time basis.

I have a question that's an extension of this one: if you are using a desktop version of QuickBooks, does the Smith Cart shopping cart work with all version or do you have recommendations for versions that work better (assuming exporting/importing iif files). Thanks in advance for any enlightenment.

Since it is an export import its not tied to a specific version of QB. The datarequirements will be driven by how you setup your accounts in QB.

Our current client trying to import either the Customer or Orders from the QB export gets this:

Got this message in QB

"Warning: Found a misplaced SPL line in import file"

When i hit continue got "Data not imported"

There was no option for importing csv files in QB

Can you advise on this?

If it is a problem with how QB is organized per client, how can we figure out what the right organization is?

The Quickbooks data files can be customized alot of different ways by adding customer data fields, adding new accounts, etc. The warning message you listed in your post doesnt provide any info about what field is causing the issue so its difficult to troubleshoot. Its possible that the QB client your customer is running has been customized and requires additional info then is being provided in the iif export file.

When I try to import the file, I get a message “Misplaced SPL line on the import file”. The SPL line is supposed to be between TRNS and ENDTRNS headers (and it is not). Could this be the problem?

I've really got the owner busting my chops on this export to QB issue. One of the main reasons he got the cart was for QB integration and it's just not working at all. We're having fits also with the Intuit gateway set up, following all the directions in the manual, no joy there either.

If we can get the export going it would help a lot.
