Dear customer support,

  I have two questions related t to UPS shipping setting up. Please advice if you have time.

  .1. First, I like to input the product dimension (width, length, and height) information, but I did not know what metric is used here, cm or inches?

   2. Second, I placed an order, since the store is setup in Vancouver Canada based, if the shipping address is in Canada, the shipping method I chose (UPS standard delivery) is showing up on the calculating shipping screen. But if the shipping address is in United States, the shipping method shows up empty list box. Please see the image of the screen link:

Hi Julia,

1. Currently the dimensions UPS requires to be entered for the Product should be entered in inches.

2. Which Shipping Methods do you have configured for the UPS Shipping Calculator? You will need to have an International Shipping Method available if you are shipping Internationally.

Hi, Julia,

Thank you to reply my questions.

So, I will add UPS worldwide saver in shipping config.

May I ask you another two question?

1. How long does it take effect after I change the store settings? I did several changes, sometimes, it takes a day; sometime, it takes half day; I cleared cache in case it is related.

I went throug the manual and see if I miss anything in the manual related to the setting update, but I could not find anything related.

2. I was told by one person about UPS shipping, the company may have some discount, how can I apply discount to the UPS shipping calculation?

Hi Julia,

1. Which changes are you referring to? Changes to the module settings should be immediate.

2. I do not know which UPS Shipping discount you are referring to, please provide more details. Is this a discount from UPS on the Shipping Rate?

Thank you for the reply.

I talked to our company shipper, and also look into UPS canada website about UPS Standard shipping, service area is All Canadian provinces to and from the 48 continuous states. So, I choose UPS carrier, then Ship Methods: UPS Standard. I expected that the store will list UPS Standard for United States address, however, smith shopping cart does not show any ship method; I added the UPS worldwide saver method also, it shows up as a shipping method for US shipping address, but UPS standard method is not available.

Second question, if I change the store tax/shipping method, then I go to the store front, place an order, the cart does not get new tax/shipping setting right away. How long? How to manipulate to make it start right away? Usually, I wait to next day, the tax/shipping setting will be available when a user places an order.

Hi, Kevin,

I added UPS Ground method and UPS Standard method in shipping store setting.Then, I placed an order, in calculating shipping, the shipping method is not available for an US address.

I am not sure why the shipping method is not available for those two option for UPS.

Hi Julia,

Regarding the UPS Standard Shipping method being available when shipping from Canada to the U.S., I have been unable to verify if the "Standard" Shipping Method is permitted. When calculating the Time and Cost on the UPS website, and entering the "Ship From" as a Canada address and the "Ship To" as a U.S. address, the only Shipping Method option which are given are UPS Worldwide Express Plus, UPS Worldwide Express, and UPS Express Saver which seems to indicate that the Standard method is not supported. If I am incorrect, please provide the URL which specifies otherwise.

Regarding the changes to tax and shipping, the changes made should be initialized right away. To my knowledge, this issue has not been reported before. I believe this issue may be your installation of the Cart has gotten out of sync or an issue with your environment (hosting, server, iis, etc). To verify this, you can create a DNN sandbox on your desktop or laptop using the following link and install SmithCart v.4.67 so you can verify correct behavior which should isolate the issue as being in the Cart or your server/DNN portal setup.

I printed out UPS standard international and study carefully after I talked to the shipper in the company.

All Canadian provinces to and from the 48 contiguous states

Please kindly update me your opinion. I found so many issues on shipping using UPS standard, I put an address in Toronto, it works; whereas I put an address of Yukon university, the shipping does not work. So, I have to take it slowly. One question a time.

I will spend time to work on this sandbox, thank you for the advice.

I talked to our shipper again, and showed him what you wrote. He showed me that he shipped every day using UPS standard to US every day, standard is the option he used every day. Then, he and I went to UPS website, and I put a US address as To address, From is our company. Then, we have this shipping method option checkbox, please see the following weblink:

UPS Standard is the first choice, next one is UPS 3 day Select, next is UPS Expedited, UPS Express Saver, UPS Express, UPS Express Early A M, I think that the cheapest one is UPS standard (also it is ground, except Hawaii, Puto Rico etc.)

Hi Julia,

I am not sure which page you have provided in your screenshot of the UPS website, I entered the URL and was presented with a "Page Not Found" message. On the UPS website, using the Shipping Calculator which is the API the Cart uses to calculate the Shipping rate, from the following link: https://wwwapps.ups.com/ctc/request, when entering the "Ship From" as a Canada address and the "Ship To" as a U.S. address, a "Customs Value" field is also required to be entered before calculating the rate which I entered as "1" after doing so, the only Shipping Method options which are provided are UPS Worldwide Express Plus, UPS Worldwide Express, and UPS Express Saver. This seems to indicate that the Standard method is not supported. If I am incorrect, please provide the URL which specifies otherwise.

You can search google and find the page in USA. Maybe, the page is available in Canada and for some reason you cannot find it. Also, the shipper we have use UPS standard everyday, I may ask his favor to ask the UPS person when they stop by picking up goods today, how to convince you on this UPS standard shipping to USA. I may make a copy of shipping we have daily or save the shipping we created on UPS.com, then I send to you.

I just used the link of UPS your provided https://wwwapps.ups.com/ctc/request, and created a quote to send 1lb stuff from Canada to USA, and saved on mp website, please open the pdf and see UPS standard option cost around $20.00 dollars, last option.

Hi Julia,

Shipping from Canada to the U.S. also requires a "Customs Value" field to be entered before calculating the rate. I see in the pdf you have provided that you entered this value as "32.00 USD". How is this value determined?

For my case, it is simple, in my shopping cart, I have 1 item, price is 32 canada dollars, quantity is 1, so the total value is 32 canadian dollars. Then, the value is $32.00 canadian dollars in terms of custom value.

Let me know if I answer your question.
