If you go to http://www.smith-consulting.com/forum..., you will see where I posted a couple pictures. I can still confirm the issue with 4.01. What happens is that if you have the built in shipping calculator selected (for UPS for example), and then want to also display a custom ship method from Manage Custom Shipping Methods, and a user selects on the custom shipping method, the cart system still tries to validate the zip code or some other setting so that you get the "The requested service is unavailable between the selected locations" error. We had to add APO/FPO locations to the states table, some of thos zip codes will not get through the system I guess. If I enter a standard USA zip code it does work.

We do not want any validation on the custom shipping method. It needs to be allowed in all cases. Our customer service will contact the customer if they select something invalid.

Is this something that needs fixing? Or am I applying the custom ship method incorrectly?

Thanks,

Steve

The cart is programmed to require you to click calculate shipping when you have the shipping calculator selected. It still requires you to click calculate shipping even if you select a custom method unless you don't have the shipping calculator selected.

Thanks,

Christian

But this does not make complete sense. The shipping calculator should not do anything else but apply custom shipping options without an internal requirement (except for data in the fields of course), or else what is the use of custom shipping and combine ship methods in the first place? We just had a person that had a zip code or other data (I am not sure what it is) that needed to purchase but could not because of the error message. We would either have to disable the shipping calculator and go flat rate I guess, or remove custom shipping options if we wanted the calculator. The best solution would be a checkbox that when a custom shipping option is selected a "do not check shipping rules on custom shipping" cart setting is available. Now, for example, you cannot ship to military personel stationed on some bases where the zip code or other data does not pass through the calculator.
