The next issue is browser cache related across all browsers. When you go to the main page of my store here, you can enter in text or a sku number to search for products (with ALL selected from the dropdown). This works good if you haven’t selected a category yet. Once you select a category, though, you can no longer search using a text or sku number that isn’t a part of the category you just clicked on.

For instance, if you click on laser sheet tray tag category, all of the products in that category come up (which is good!). BUT, if you then proceed up to the search box (with ALL selected) and type in an item number like 300802 (which is an item listed under the mailing tabs / seals category) nothing comes up. This is because the store still thinks that you want to search in the laser sheet tray tag category. Shouldn’t the ALL dropdown denote that you want to search through all products for that particular string of data? Am I missing something? Can you try it on my cart page?

Hi Mike,

Which version of the Cart are you running? This issue has been addressed in SmithCart v.4.30.

When first loading the products list all products are displayed. Once you select a category using the category module to filter your products by category, then perform a search, it only searches within the currently selected category even when the default search "ALL" is selected. Changed the BuyNow module search to search ALL products when search "ALL" is selected from the search dropdown even if a category is currently filtered. See the following forum post for more info http://www.smith-consulting.com/Forum...

Thanks

Hi Mike,

Have you tried using our Smith.Search module? It works much more efficiently when searching through catagories and subcatagories.

When the user enters/selects their search options and clicks “Search” the search module will query the category and product tables and the user will be redirected to the BuyNow module product listing page and the products will be filtered according to the search criteria entered in the search module. If a search returns no rows then the search module will display a message “No records found” and remain on the same page.

Thanks

I went ahead and added it to my store page, but it's too big and bulky; the search module that is integrated with the Buy.Now module looks much better, is there a reason it functions differently that this search module? It's just the fact that the ALL category should search all products, not the category you've last selected.

Hi Mike,

You are right selecting "ALL" in the BuyNow search function should search through all the products. I will add this to our dev list.

Thanks, Kevin
